re: American Independent party

Yeah, many people register with AIP thinking they're going decline-to-state and that boosts AIP's numbers artificially.

Not really.... its not as bad as San Francisco. I couldn't afford the cost of living up there never mind the fact these people have views that are practically the opposite of the rest of the State and for that matter, the country.

From where I'm at (when I'm home. Currently going to college at UCR)...there are no bridges to take (San Jose). So, going to SF? Go up the peninsula, Oakland, go the other way.

But why would I go to SF or Oakland? Want fine dining or shopping? Just go to Santana Row! Plenty of great restuarants (granted, expensive, but the area is very nice!). Heck, I can walk across the street to Valley Fair if I wanted to (Cheesecake Factory!).

Parts of it aren't. I live in Rohrabacher's District. However, I am in Rat territory for both state houses and my vote's meaningless in November. I'm tempted to skip the election this fall if it turns out the President can win without me.

"55 is passing by 50.6 now. Looks like it might be pulling away. Nothing from Orange County yet, and San Diego still has around 13% reporting."

Many folks think that San Francisco is this big deal. Frisco city and county has a population of about 800,000.

Orange County and San Diego County (both Republican counties) are approximately 3,000,000 each.

Ahhhh yes, that's right.
And there probably wouldn't have been a 57/58 at this time.

Per a note below, San Bernardino hasn't reported either, and the Inland Empire trends conservative... 55 could be close.

Yeah, that's how the rats get you. With squeezing you out of the state houses.
Man, I wish Kaloogian won.
I just heard measure A isn't sold yet. It needs two-thirds.

In safe districts. I also voted for Kaloogian. GOPers appeared to vote for the most familiar name on the ballot. Don't ask why, its human nature to pick the recognizable irrespective of other considerations.

That 2/3rds requirement since Prop. 13 has done wonders. Who knows how many eronious taxes were averted because not enough idiots voted.

Too bad the Bay Area is getting more to the left everyday though. Used to be a great place to live.

Actually with bonds, a 55% vote's necessary. Before that used to be two thirds.
