What I was saying and you misunderstood apparently is that to the average Joe, CFR was not an assault on the 1st amendment and would dismiss this as threat to the constitution or their daily lives.

I understood quite well what you were saying. CFR is either a non-issue or a huge political concern, depending upon what you happen to be arguing at the time.

Kind of like those third-party voters. I'm still trying to figure out whether they'll cost Bush the election or are totally irrelevant and should just go away.

Apparently you don't. CFR as passed was a feel good measure(reform, get money out of politics, yada, yada, yada) and to the average Joe it does not threaten them in any way. And when you thump your chest and scream "this is the end of the world" people will say, "big deal".
