Just sat down to dinner when I clicked on to this thread, Spinach,Asparagus with sliced strawberries with a blackberry vinaigrette dressing and a stuffed bell pepper. Chose a strawberry soda over Coke so I could get some sleep. Guess I will have to go have a piece of chocolate and glass of milk to get to sleep. (I keep odd hrs.)

http://www.nctimes.com/articles/2004/02/28/ap/Headlines/d810744g0.txt "...Most of the 25 people arrested this week appeared to be tribesmen from a region whose inhabitants are linked by language and culture to Afghan Pashtuns, the ethnic group that was the Taliban's power base. Four of those arrested _ a man and three women _ appeared to be of Middle Eastern origin.
Lt. Col. Bryan Hilferty, a spokesman for the American military in Afghanistan, said Saturday he had no information on the identity of those arrested in the Pakistani operation, or if any of them had been taken to Bagram Air Base.
Bagram is the main U.S. base in Afghanistan, where terrorism suspects are often detained and interrogated. The military refuses to give details of who is held there.
Military officials say ordinary Afghans are providing better intelligence on Taliban and al-Qaida activities, pointing to frequent tips on the location of arms caches as proof.
Asked if better intelligence was behind commanders' optimism that bin Laden and other top fugitives will be caught, Hilferty said only that there was an "overall sense of confidence that things are getting better...."

The sun is just coming up now here on the East Coast. It wasn't up when this story broke.
do you really expect someone to DRIVE past the white house to see if the lights r on
Washington reporters do it all of the time.

Your behavior is the only thing that seems dumb to me. maybe you just get "dumb" easily...do you have problems working light switches?
To: kcvl
Hard to tell exactly what's going on, and who's saying what and when, but it seems it's a red herring story. At least today. Or at least this morning.

You know JFKerry has been sending Iran emails, wonder if he is up to his old tricks again. Starting rumors?
To: Fitzcarraldo
seems like the capture is deemed inevitable and this is a set up for future conspiracy theorists.
To: Gigantor
If we did capture OBL I hope it would be kept secret long enough to torture any and all useful in-tel out of that scumbag so we could get/kill as many Al Quaida punks as possible as quickly as possible. That would be a legit excuse to keep his capture under wraps.

It wasn't "dumb" to ask this. We have FReepers everywhere. Believe me. There is one near the White House who can see the lights. And, yes, something of this magnitude would have the lights on in the exec offices. A good question, actually.
To: stuck_in_new_orleans
No, I don't have to admit anything.
I thought it was a simple throw away line to make a point, "anyone know if the lights are on in the WH"...a metaphor if you will.
Didn't get me all fluxed.
And as to the original post, he's just telling us something he knows. Again, I don't get concerned if it's not true right now. It's information.
If it bothered me as much as it seems to bother you, I'd be somewhere else...probably playing pool on Pogo.

CNN and FOX News Channels are quiet. Judging from Fox News' preferred subjects for "news" coverage, one would think that Michael Jackson, Kobe Bryant and/or Scott Peterson were the architects of 9/11 and were the rulers of pre-war Iraq...
