What a sad commentary on this moral midgets life, and a picture of his destiny/ eternal punishment.

Hitchens is very anti-religion and particularly anti-Catholic. Remember, he did the hit piece on Mother Theresa. Nuff said.

Let me recommend a good book for you to read: Ominous Parallels, by Leonard Peikoff. Aside from the obvious Objectivist boosterism, he goes into how and why the German people allowed, voted in, caused Nazism to happen.
Hint: It was the intellectuals, not the Christian Germans that were/are at fault.

Good points, Qwinn, but if you haven't already, I really wish you would take some time with C.S. Lewis' Mere Christianity. Might be worth your while. Might convince you of his divinity - it did it for me.

When my Savior gets back, I want him to know I did everything to protect His people.
Sorry to do this, but your (and my) Savior's people were ALL of Humanity. The Jews were the first of God's chosen people to spread His message aroudn the world. From the time of Christ onwards, God spread his message to the entire world, erasing the barriers between Jews and Gentiles. So, His people are the world and His persecutors are also the world. (oops, lost my grammar there)

A FEW years ago, Mel Gibson got himself into an argument after uttering a series of crude remarks that were hostile to homosexuals. Well!
At least this fruitcake is nice enough to tell us where he's coming from. Saved me the waste of time of reading the rest of his verbal hissy-fit. As if I cared what he thinks or how he feels about it.
Which simply reminds me that most of my life I felt neutral about perverts and their lives. It was an implicit live-and-let-live arrangement. No more.
Their arrogance, presumption and ill grace has definitely created an instinctive hostility which can only be described as the societal justification for the "closet" in the first place. It has been a learning experience for me and the other 98% of the population: there is something to be said for the evolution, over millenia, of strict societal views of disgusting aberrations.

*nod* I've had many people suggest Mere Christianity to me, many times. I know it's converted a lot of people (Chuck Colson credits it, among many others). I do intend to read it sometime and see what I think of his arguments, most definetly.

No matter what one may think of his political stances, he is a very good writer.
Sorry, but I don't think he's a very good writer, mediocre in style, really.

The Jews who think that this movie will produce anti-Semitism need a big look at exactly who is threatening them worldwide. It's not the Christians.
Though to be honest, the slammies will take this movie and distort it for their anti-Jewsish propaganda. Of course they would even take Schindler's List and distort it to their own loonie creed -- that's Mad Mo's gift to the world -- if you can't convince, then bamboozle them with This Sura, this page etc. and if that doesn't work, then kill 'em.

1. The Crucifixion. Was it, or was it not, PREORDAINED? The statements made on this thread that "the Jews killed Jesus" I think ignore the above question.
If Jesus was God in human flesh (and I think he was) then it is just silly to think that ANYONE could do ANYTHING to him without his consent. when Jesus was carrying that cross up to Golgotha he wasn't shocked or surprised. When he was hanging there and stated "Father forgive them...", he WAS in that very event - the crucifiction - fulfilling the very reason that he was on earth.
Take a look at the Last Supper, or his last night in Gethsemane - he knew what was coming.
Knowbody hilled Jesus, He gave himself willingly - for us - for the entire world.
IMHO, any suggestion that ANYONE killed jesus is ignorant of the above.

It was stupid. If you're going to "billboard" (advertise, basically), you need to first think "What do I want to say?", then "Who do I want to hear it?"
People driving past that particular snippet probably thought the pastor was addressing skinheads, not them...so they would hardly have been motivated to go home and look it up, let alone buy a Bible in which to look it up if they didn't already have one.
I don't know how effective this practice is anyway. When you're driving by you'll probably miss or forget the chapter & verse number, and just remember the words of text. I can't remember numbers to save my life.

Peace to you too.

"Where do your rights come from, then? If they're granted to you by other men (temporal government), please explain to the rest of us how you would legitimately/logically claim that your rights are unalienable."
Oh, believe me. I would -much- rather live in a country that ascribes the source of those rights to God than to government. Noooo doubt there. I may be agnostic, but I am very much aware that I have a very vested interest in the rest of the world -not- being so.
I am quite well aware that Christianity's track record in respecting human rights is downright spectacular compared to what arises in atheistic systems (such as Communism).

UNLESS it is because Christians today are being blamed for the actions of Christians who lived several centuries ago?
Oh, you mean like the Crusaders who were defending Christendom against evil?
