Posted on 02/25/2004 4:47:28 AM PST by conservativefromGa
Senate debate on the gun manufactures liability bill will begin at 9:30 this morning on C-Span2. Expect Feinstein to attach her Assault Weapons Ban renewal rider on it. Also McCain may attach a rider closing the so called "gun show loophole". This is it folks.

The Boxer Amendment requires that gun lock be sold with all new handgun purchases. $2500 fine if your unlocked gun is used in an accident, stolen and used in crime, ect... It also REQUIRES that firearms manufacturers have integral locking devices and load indicators.
We are waiting for the amendment to be added to Thomas.loc.gov to see exactly what it DOES say.

"The Boxer Amendment... requiring locks on all guns... even in your own home. Might as well call it the Surrender To The Criminals Instead Of Defending Yourself Act."
Hey, but at least gun makers can't be sued.. Way to go NRA/reps.

If this thing doesn't die, I'm sending back my RNC cards, NRA cards, and anything else I have to show I supported them. They can stuff it.

Small bright spot. At least Cornyn voted against the Boxer Amendment.

Wake the F**** up. We were destroyed by the dems. Why on earth do you want them in power? Shooter, the simple fact is that nothing - zip, zilch, nada - could pass either House if the Pubbies didn't want it to. The fact that an amendment like Boxer's could be added is the fault of the Republicans that lack the principles to oppose it.
If we are being screwed openly by one party and in secret by the other, WTF is the difference?
Of course, I will wait to see what (if anything) actually gets to Bush's desk. But seeing a vote like this is VERY discouraging and isn't having a saluatory effect on my blood pressure.

$2500 fine if your unlocked gun is used in an accident, stolen and used in crime, ect...
And if the criminal uses a Bridgeport at school to take your lock off, you get the chance to convince a jury that it was locked up last time you saw it!
This is unenforceable; it is just intended to make fencesitters turn in their guns. When they offer a Gunlock Amnesty Turnin with a $50 certificate for ToysRUs the line will be longer.

This has enough mandate to override a veto at this point, doesn't it.
I've never felt so utterly turned on. The republicans are going to lose a paying member over this.

Kennedy is ranting about "proliferation" in Gun Free Zones. You know, those places that criminals now target as easy prey?
Gah... what a jackass.

Out of how many? You were told time and time again we don't have the votes in the Senate like we do in the House. You were told time and time again the only hope we have is to stop the AWB is in the House where the Republicans have a pro-gun majority.
And your solution is to allow more dems into power.
You two are either stupid or Sara Brady is using your computer.

Excuse me.. Look at 613. Then tell me we 'have enough votes' anywhere if this happens? Our side just totally and intentionally shove it up ours.
