How do you ask a man to be the last man to die for a mistake?" reads a Doonesbury cartoon character aloud. "Who said that?" asks the readers roommate.
"John Kerry. To the Senate Foreign Relations Committee..."
"Too little, too late," replies the roommate; thinking the quote refers to Iraq.
"...in 1971," finishes the reader.
I picture:
The bombing of the World Trade Center
The bombing of the Cole
The destruction of the World Trade Center (with people jumping to their deaths to escape the inferno)
The attack on the pentagon
The mass grave of Iraq
The rape rooms of Iraq
The torture rooms of Iraq
The 6000 Kurds killed by chemical weapons

In his 1998 book Stolen Valor, which documented in detail the results of 10 years of research, B.G. Burkett finally laid the false stereotype to rest. He discovered that Vietnam veterans were actually more successful and psychologically healthy than their civilian contemporaries, A Salute to our Vietnam Veteran's! The message from Doonesbury creator Garry Trudeau is obvious enough: America's military action in Iraq is a mistake, like our failed effort in Vietnam. Our soldiers there are dying for nothing. The decent thing to do is bring them home immediately.I'm trying, but I can't seem to find a good line of argument to explain how Trudeau's efforts differ from Tokyo Rose's efforts. Maybe that's because there is no discernable difference?

Thank You for such a clear cut, logical piece. It lays it all out in a logical, well written way that even the 'mainstream media' can understand. Additionally, I would gladly be the last to die, if it saves our children and way of life.

Hey, Kerry spent his whole summer vacation in Nam before he arranged to come back and do what wealthy triators do to keep themselves amused. He says he got medals; let's see the paper work to make sure he didn't just buy them in a surplus store. Benedict Arnold had medals, too, from before he was a traitor. We got to examine the records before we assume the Kerry served honorably during the brief time he was in Nam before he finagled himself out.

Nah, Just more of the run of the mill stuff that I've come to expect from you.
Concise, yet thorough, well researched and well written and easy to understand, and guaranteed to be ignored by the mainstream media.
Oh. . . I guess that that is OUTSTANDING!
