Passenger Ferry Is on Fire Near Manila

MANILA, Philippines (AP) - A passenger ferry was on fire early Friday near Manila, and rescue vessels were dispatched, the coast guard said. There were no immediate reports of casualties.
Radio station DZRH reported 717 passengers were on board the Superferry 14, traveling from Manila to the central city of Bacolod.
Coast guard Apprentice Jess Galicah told The Associated Press that the fire was reported around 1 a.m. off Bataan province. The cause and severity were not immediately known.
Galicah said the ship had a capacity of 1,672 passengers.
