That said, a personal friend of mine whom I've known for 25 years is in a postion to "know". He won't tell me a thing, not ONE thing. Jokingly, he tells me that he'd "have to kill me if he told me"....but his lips are sealed shut. I respect that.....immensely.

The FBI joined the investigation and planned to question the owners of other aircraft based at the Brazoria County Airport, said Louis Jones, the county aviation director.

There is also the possibility that the US deliberately releases this info as a "rumor" to keep the terrorists guessing.
Some "leaks" are deliberate.
But they don't want to officially confirm it, because that would result in possible Al Qaeda action they don't want.
This is just a guess on my part, but I have read things along those lines. This is a very complicated 5-dimentional chess game, if one could call it a game, except that this is deadly serious.

How can you trust anyone's intel when they 'spew' or say they are in the know? I don't get the stories in the news either on OBL sightings or our strategy of a spring OBL hunt. All this annnouncing is nonsense!
