February 24, 2004 -- WASHINGTON - The Pentagon has dispatched the elite commando force that hunted down Saddam Hussein to Afghanistan for a new operation aimed at getting Osama bin Laden, officials said yesterday. Military sources confirmed that members of the shadowy Task Force 121, the unit that conducted the high-tech search for Saddam and his henchmen, have recently begun operating in the remote mountainous region along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border where bin Laden and key al Qaeda and Taliban fugitives are believed to be hiding. The Task Force is made up of highly trained Delta and SEAL commandos, as well as CIA paramilitary operators. It operates outside normal military channels.

In light of the recent failed Russian military testing, this NATO plan is interesting.
NATO Plans Baltics Air Security, Russia Suspicious
26 February 2004 09:55
NATO is planning to provide air security for the Baltic states and Slovenia when they join the organisation this spring, but it is treading carefully because of Russia's sensitivity about alliance aircraft on its borders. A NATO official said on Wednesday military planners were working urgently on a plan to ensure the new eastern wing of the alliance was not left undefended because of these four countries' lack of fighter jets. "This is a very complex issue," the official told reporters. "It is also highly political in the context of the Conventional Forces in Europe (CFE) treaty, Russian sensitivities about the basing of NATO aircraft."
Signed in the dying days of the Cold War, the CFE limits the number of military equipment deployed and stored between the Atlantic Ocean and Russia's Urals Mountains. Underlining Moscow's suspicions, the Russian air force expressed anxiety about a demonstration flight this week by one of NATO's AWACS early warning aircraft over Latvia. It had earlier asked to put an observer on board. The Interfax news agency quoted an air force spokesman as saying such flights would enable NATO to carry out deep air reconnaissance in northwestern Russia and Belarus.

Within 20 miles of where the diver popped up in the Hudson River is the "Indian Point Nuclear Plant;" two conventional power plants; the Marcy South Power Line, which runs under the Hudson right where this guy was found and feeds electric juice to NYC and Long Island; the Catskill Aquaduct, which runs under the Hudson right where this guy was found and feeds water to NYC; West Point Military Academy; and three bridges, including the six lane "Hamilton Fish Jr. Bridge," which services I-84 across the Hudson between Beacon and Newburg.
Query: Suppose these divers planted underwater explosives timed to go off some time in the future. How long could the explosives remain under water before going bad?

You've got a picture of a smiling Bin Laden and a scuba diverThat pic is seared into my brain.

"A small amount of anthranilic acid"
"the abnormal reading was harmless"
My gut says there is much more to this than is being released to the public at this time. They are keeping the lid on tight. This might have been the smokescreen for another unknown incident.

Sounds like someone is testing our responsiveness or creating diversions.

Also mentioned that a preemptive strike would come from the north. Now I'm getting chills -- the Hudson River is also known as "North River" because it runs north to south. If I recall correctly, Henry Hudson originally coined the river "North River" and you will still see that name on older maps.

Some of us here have been speculating Canada and that maybe their preemptive plan is to strike a power plant up near the Canadian/U.S. border, put us in the dark and then hit us.I mentioned that same speculation yesterday, about the "darkness".

Sounds like cold war doesn't it.

WELLINGTON, New Zealand, Dec 29, 2002 (The Canadian Press via COMTEX) -- Authorities are investigating three men described as being of Middle Eastern appearance who enrolled in a scuba diving course that taught the use of underwater explosives, police said Sunday. The three paid 8,000 New Zealand dollars (US$4,180) each for a commercial diving course about six months ago, but two of them never turned up and the third attended only one lesson, according to a report in the Sunday Star-Times newspaper. A police confirmed that they were investigating but would give no further details. ~From the Candaian Press via COMTEX 12/2002

I wish we knew more. It's very strange that they just happened to find him near the Dynergy's Danskammer power plant. Nothing comes up on this diver story in a google search. Labyrinthos, what are some of the newspapers up there that might have covered this? It actually happened over this past weekend.

But not a fault line known for producing major earthquakes and least not in the last couple of hundred million years.

The big local newspapers are the Poughkeepsie Journal, Middletown Times-Herald Record, Westchester-Gannet, and Kingston Freeman. I have seen nothing in the local papers and I live close enough to that plant to see the discharge from the stacks. (In fact, we fish 100 yards off shore from the plant during the stripped bass season.)

I might add, as an aside: If we do get hit, besides a ham/am radio with batteries, it will be important to have CASH at first. It will still be accepted out the outset but credit will not due to no electricity for the card scanner. A merchant can always take cash even if the register is inoperative.
I know a lot of hawkers of gold and silver. But think about it. If it got that bad where money was not accepted...can you eat gold or silver?
What would be worth more would be dry goods and food/water, and especially items like alcohol and cigs for bartering...and of course...AMMO. Guns don't work w/out it and it will probably be worth its weight in gold if everything falls apart. Most people with guns might have one box..LOL...even the bad guys, unless they steal it. Look at it this way. What good is food and water if you can't stay alive because of the gankstas and scum.
