[history]
February 24, 2004 -- WASHINGTON - The Pentagon has dispatched the elite commando force that hunted down Saddam Hussein to Afghanistan for a new operation aimed at getting Osama bin Laden, officials said yesterday. Military sources confirmed that members of the shadowy Task Force 121, the unit that conducted the high-tech search for Saddam and his henchmen, have recently begun operating in the remote mountainous region along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border where bin Laden and key al Qaeda and Taliban fugitives are believed to be hiding. The Task Force is made up of highly trained Delta and SEAL commandos, as well as CIA paramilitary operators. It operates outside normal military channels.

What is that showing? Is that Bill Bennett in the middle?
I looked, but didn't notice it posted -- Jill St. Claire has a new article about AQ 7 WMD.

Just My Opinion

The threat of Al Qaeda using a weapon of mass destruction is real. They have acquired the knowledge to construct nuclear weapons and allegedly are ready to set the motion in place to activate them in locations around the US. Al Qaeda has in their possession acceding to reports, the chemicals and the means to disperse biological WMD to perhaps kill thousands in one massive strike. There have been threats to contaminate our water supply, our food supply (not only through live stock and our crops, but also through the poisoning of our food supply which is sitting right on our grocers shelves).
Where could all of this happen? Well, we have all heard the threats to New York City, Washington DC, so on and so forth
but the fact of the matter is, it can happen anywhere. The entire coastline of America is vast, and essentially unprotected. Some areas have security measures in place, but most do not. The Coast Guard is stretched as far as they can be, AND doing an excellent job. But, on the other hand, they can only do what they can with the means made available by the federal government. The lack of adequate funding is a major hurdle. And, the likelihood of a maritime attack is being seriously downplayed. Yet this type of attack is becoming increasingly worrisome.
There have been other threats
from bombing our dams, cutting off our electrical power supply (which Al Qaeda already claimed to do on the East Coast of the US as well as other countries around the world), sabotaging bridges, subway systems, our airline industry, etc. It is difficult for most Americans to continue to take these threats seriously, but we must.

SP2BF, you made a very clear and valid point with that excerpt.
I alluded to cooperation between Al Qaeda and the ETA, as well as other terror groups, but stopped short of coming out and saying it in the open because it was a hunch and I usually try to stick to facts. Now I will.
In my opinion, there are the beginnings of strategic partnerships between AL Qaeda and other traditionally non Arab terrorism groups. Have you seen any indication of this in your travels?

Does anyone know when "Passion of the Christ" opens overseas? I'm concerned that this would be a prime target for a theatre-takeover a la the Chechnyans in Moscow.

Just started trying to catch up with all of you. Great to see the Greek attack plan was BUSTED.

Same thing here. Little notice of what Spain suffered- and little interest.
To: jerseygirl
they seem to be pushing the ETA argument hard today, I'm still not buying it. Michael Savage was livid last night, he was predicting they would do anything to deflect this story away from AQ.

Re: dolphins, Gulf of Mexico. Remember Sean saying that there was "action" going on in the Gulf, some involving oil rigs.

what is most amazing is that those same people are Kerry's base, they could care less about Spain, but then when something happens to the US, they are the first people to say we should have "allies". What allies are they fostering support from, when they could care less about what happens outside their own little worlds.

Thank you! Bumping your post.

still waiting to see how those devices were planted on the trains, or were they just left as backpacks under seats and in the stations?
To: jerseygirl
And something about submarines in the Gulf too at about that same time, right?
