February 24, 2004 -- WASHINGTON - The Pentagon has dispatched the elite commando force that hunted down Saddam Hussein to Afghanistan for a new operation aimed at getting Osama bin Laden, officials said yesterday. Military sources confirmed that members of the shadowy Task Force 121, the unit that conducted the high-tech search for Saddam and his henchmen, have recently begun operating in the remote mountainous region along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border where bin Laden and key al Qaeda and Taliban fugitives are believed to be hiding. The Task Force is made up of highly trained Delta and SEAL commandos, as well as CIA paramilitary operators. It operates outside normal military channels.

Does anyone remember the "The writing" on the school bathroom wall way back that said a certain day was going to be hell on earth. I believe the date was 3/13/04. It was probably just someone messing around, but I have always kept it in the back of my mind.

Does anyone know the exact source of what Jill puts on her web site? Is there a particular message board the stuff comes from?

I dont know of an afirmative source for Jill's board, but I would sure be interested in reading that too. I wasnt able to get in either.

I dimly recall seeing a post a long time predicting 3-12 or 3-13 as being "hell on earth" but I cant remember where I saw it. I sometimes read Christian prophecy boards and maybe I saw it there, but I am not sure.

I read the article. Quite remarkable.

What bothers me, is that they just go ahead and euthanize the elk, instead of feeding them and doing research to find out what caused it and what may possibly cure it. They say they are "otherwise healthy", which means that if they would bring them food, they would live .

Also -- how do they know if this may not be just a first stage of this strange disease, if they don't keep the elk alive to see what happens.

I'm not going to quit using eggs - they are a staple in my house. I am, however, going to be more wary about buying them if they come from three states over or anywhere too far away from home. Raw eggs - yuckky!

By the same token, does Mad Cow Disease affect cheese, yogurt, cottage cheese and other milk products? Do we have any way of knowing that yet? Supposedly it involves only the sinewy and muscle meat of the cow, however, they also told us there were far less cows affected then they now say. What is known about this seems to be an ongoing thing.

I really want to get a deep chest freezer

We bought a small freezer, enough for the two of us. It is well stocked with all kinds of goodies. I think we have four small packages of beef products left. More and more of our diet consists of other items - including salads and vegetables. If we can't be sure how many cows had this disease (it was reported the initial cow may NOT have been a downer cow like was reported) what exactly are we supposed to believe? Frozen foods that contain beef are certainly a question mark. Turkey burgers and chicken sandwiches are sounding better every day.

Exactly. The last cruise we took was to Bermuda. It was heavenly. I think Sean has more info than we'll ever see on this subject and I tend to agree it is not the best time to travel by cruise ship.

What is frightening to me is that this has been known since February 8th and supposedly we still have no definitive cause. We need to get those people from the forensics shows on TV to help them out - I don't understand with all the technology we have in this country why it is taking so long to figure this out.

Yes, it certainly is a bizarre- and very sad- situation. And apparently the disease- or whatever- is continuing to overcome more elk.

I just got off the telephone with my daughter, who teaches school in Newcastle, Wy. She knew nothing about an earthquake there last night. We did have one here (3.0) in early February....Rapid City, SD....about 70 miles from Newcastle.

The Yellowstone Caldera continues to be a concern. Things are happening there.

I believe the Homeland Security Bill provides an avenue from blocking terror related incidents from being reported.
