[history]
February 24, 2004 -- WASHINGTON - The Pentagon has dispatched the elite commando force that hunted down Saddam Hussein to Afghanistan for a new operation aimed at getting Osama bin Laden, officials said yesterday. Military sources confirmed that members of the shadowy Task Force 121, the unit that conducted the high-tech search for Saddam and his henchmen, have recently begun operating in the remote mountainous region along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border where bin Laden and key al Qaeda and Taliban fugitives are believed to be hiding. The Task Force is made up of highly trained Delta and SEAL commandos, as well as CIA paramilitary operators. It operates outside normal military channels.

And yes Martha took the day. I heard Judge Napolitano (sp?) say that one of the jurors that was interviewed after Martha was convicted had given Martha and her defense team a good reason for appeal in stating that they (some of the members of the jury) thought that Martha was making a mockery of the jury by not testifying. The United States Court of Appeals will rarely -- and I mean very, very rarely -- overturn a jury verdict based upon what some jurors may have said or thought during deliberations even if contrary to the judge's instructions. When a juror during deliberations strays from the judge's instructions the other jurors are supposed to bring him back into line and if she refuses, then the other jurors are supposed to report the problem to the court before reaching a verdict. The judge will then reinstruct the jury as a whole and if the offending juror continues to ignor the instructions, then the judge will remove that juror from the panel. Once a verdict is reached, however, the deliberative process is generally off limits on appeal. The exception is when the jury as a whole answers "special interrogatories" submitted by the attorneys through the court and those answers show a gross misunderstanding of the law and the charge as applied to the facts of the case. But the post-trial statements of one or two jurors are not going to carry any weight on appeal.

BLESS YOU AND YOURS MANY TONS FOR YOUR SUSTAINING WORDS!!!
I don't THINK I feel that resentful if any at all. Mystified in some respects. Though I realize God is God and always will be God and that I don't HAVE to understand things.
A dear sister about 35 years ago told me The Father wanted me to "rejoice not that I made you so differently [from others] but rejoice IN MY CAPACITY to HOLD YOU IN A HARD PLACE."
I felt it was an awesome, kind of ominous prophetic word at the time. Given the abundant fulfillment of it over the years and again now . . . it has turned out to be even more so. I'm still struggling to get to that place of rejoicing in His capacity to do that though I have at times.
And, I know that we must "walk by faith" even when it's hard and we can't seem to shake loose much of a clue about what's going on.
And, I know that when God operates on me, within me, He seems to have to do it without any or at least without much of my conscious awareness so I don't muck up the surgery.
Nevertheless, IT IS NO FUN!!!! Sigh.
The encouragements such as yours are really desperately longed for water in a long 'Death Valley' trek.
THANKS TRAINLOADS,

The last long intense 'long dark night of the soul' about 20 through 25 years ago . . . about all I could seem to shake loose from God regardless of hours and hours of prayer and days and weeks of fasting was:
"HAVING DONE ALL, TO STAND!"
Took me a long time to get beyond hating that Scripture as well as "This is the day, This is the day, rejoice and be glad in it . . . " song.
I pray I can stand wherever He has me to stand. It will certainly be in His strength that I can do it at all. I don't think I can breathe without His constant intervention in my behalf.

Yep, let's welcome some more "Mexicans" into the country to blow us all to hell.It certainly appears we're heading that way despite the majority of us being against just that thing plus how many will they let in the open door who are not "Mexican." Recent speeches promise reinforcement of our homeland security - one cancels out the other to my way of thinking.

Regaring the illegal aliens serving in the military, what every happened to this policy? This poster should be blown up, reproduced to excess and handed out to all of our politicians and government agencies as a reminder of what they are supposed to be doing.

Can you imagine the US Gov't putting out something like this today regarding the "War on Terror"?Our newspapers, television stations, cable and satellite stations should be doing public service announcements with photos of terrorists known to be in the USA so that they can be more quickly apprehended. Instead we get nothing but entertainment news and meaningless chatter. If we are eventually attacked and there is a large loss of life,in my opinion those media outlets will be partially responsible for not taking terrorism within this country seriously and taking steps to educate people that these avowed terrorists are lurking on our very streets.

Right. Jeb Bush vetoed offshore drilling off Florida.
Political suicide.
Ain't gonna happen. It's not about kissing arse, it's about being able to make lots of money.

I am not buying it. I think the reports of al-Zarqawi's demise are greatly exaggerated and may be part of internal upheaval within al-Qaeda driven by Ayman al-Zawahiri's bid to maintain total control of the newly decentralized AQ core leadership.
Al-Zarqawi just released his second audio recording in as many months. Kinda hard to do that when you're supposed to have assumed room temperature.

Not specifically related to the reported deaths and sightings of recent days, but more of a background of information concerning Al Qaeda "Naval Operations".
"Concerns that Al-Qaeda had opened up a new front in its terror campaign emerged when a US spy plane discovered scores of acoustic sea mines had disappeared from a high-security naval base in North Korea. US intelligence services believe the mines may be aboard an armada of 28 terror ships which Osama bin Laden's organisation has assembled over the past year. The mines are fitted with homing devices which allow them to zero in on massive targets like the 150,000-tonne Queen Mary 2."
Or Aircraft carriers and other large ships.
And then there's this...
"U.S. officials say they are on alert for signs that al Qaeda would use exotic craft to launch underwater attacks -- small submarines and "human torpedoes," underwater motor-propelled sleds that divers use. Sri Lanka's Tamil Tiger terrorist movement has been developing such equipment for years, said Tanner Campbell, vice president of the private Maritime Intelligence Group, which consults for shipping interests.
Captured al Qaeda operative Omar al-Faruq has told interrogators that he planned scuba attacks on U.S. warships in Indonesia, Campbell said. Apparently as a result of his confessions, U.S. officials recently visited hundreds of scuba shops nationwide asking about suspicious visitors."
The above is front a Washington Post report which is no longer linked.
It looks like they've brought such operations a whole lot closer to our shores.

The elk: I was reading somewhere that the ones that fell ill were allmost all females and their young. The article went on to say that the female elk graze on different land than the males, so they were going to try to analyze that factor. Sure sounds troubling to me.

I wonder what they are looking for in those 18 wheelers. My guess- not the usual cocaine or marijuana.
