[history]
February 24, 2004 -- WASHINGTON - The Pentagon has dispatched the elite commando force that hunted down Saddam Hussein to Afghanistan for a new operation aimed at getting Osama bin Laden, officials said yesterday. Military sources confirmed that members of the shadowy Task Force 121, the unit that conducted the high-tech search for Saddam and his henchmen, have recently begun operating in the remote mountainous region along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border where bin Laden and key al Qaeda and Taliban fugitives are believed to be hiding. The Task Force is made up of highly trained Delta and SEAL commandos, as well as CIA paramilitary operators. It operates outside normal military channels.

Was there any announcement of the release of these tapes/docs?
Is it being played on Al Jazeera or any other broad release?
I guess what I'm really asking, is there any reason to think this is what daleel claims?
If so, why no broader announcement?
To: Velveeta
It has definite similarities to the December 2003 tape that was never released to the public. I'm comparing the portions of the December tape that were played by Al Jazeera with this tape to see if they match.

Thanks so very much!!

Those are the same questions I'm trying to get answered.
No it has not been mentioned on any of the Arabic forums to date, nor has it been played on Al Jazeera, Al Arabeya, or any of the other usual Bin Laden haunts.
It's approximately the same length as the Bin Laden tape from December, most of which was never released to the public.
There are a lot of questions. Right now I need to go listen to the tape again and compare clips. I know more in the morning.
Right now I'm treating this with a hefty degree of skepticism.

"Although the case was handled by the Department of Homeland Security, there is no indication of any connection to terrorism."
Alphabet speak for terrorism related.

It's real in the sense that it's Bin Laden. Bin Laden's voice and manner of speaking are unmistakable.
I'm just not sure when the tape was recorded and whether or not it's a rerun.

He swallowed a pretty big list I guess.

Leave your pens home when flying.
Just heard on Fox News that FBI has BOLO for pen guns which may have the bullets replaced with chem or bio. Apparently India seized several of these from Al Qaeda suspects recently. One officer became dizzy when he opened one of the cylinders. They have no additional information on this threat, but airport screeners should be aware of the possibility.
I can't find anything on the news sites about this yet.

You're awesome.
I'll be waiting for your analysis.
To: StillProud2BeFree
Thanks for the more detailed response too!!
I had gathered from your shorter response to Velveeta this was more of daleel's games to get attention.
That's all I needed to know.
Thanks for your hard work checking these things out!!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~Those Egyptian Airlines Again~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Fire grounded Egyptian plane at Paris airport
PARIS (AFP) - An Egyptian charter company Airbus was grounded at Paris's Charles de Gaulle airport after an engine caught fire and a hole was discovered in the fuselage, a French newspaper reported Saturday. The A-320 Airbus belonging to the Egyptian Lotus Air company and chartered by the Marmara tour operator, had carried 134 French tourists and five crew members from Cairo on Thursday, the Parisien reported.
An airport official at Terminal Three observed smoke coming from a rear engine of the plane amid a strong smell of burning, the paper said. None of the normal alarms had been triggered aboard the plane, it added. A security official at the airport grounded the plane after the pilot refused to file an accident report and said he was preparing to take off again immediately for Egypt. A hole 40 centimetres (16 inches) in diameter was discovered in the fuselage while two lengths of electrical wire were found on the runway, according to the report.
A police enquiry was immediately opened, and the plane's black boxes were being examined, the Parisien said. Earlier this month, an Egyptian Flash Airlines Boeing 737 crashed in the Red Sea, killing all 148 on board, including 134 French nationals. French Transport Minister Gilles de Robien has since called for the creation of a "security label" for charter companies used by tour operators, which would identify those charter firms offering the best safety guarantees.
This tape will have us all on the edge of seats! I'm glad you are couching it with skepticism. Thank you for translating once again!
To: WestCoastGal
Well that's weird. I remember a very similar incident that occurred about a month ago.
That story also had the plane with the hole in the fuselage. The nervous pilot thought it was no problem, he wanted to take off again!
(Note to self: Don't ever fly on Egyptian airliner)
Yep you're right, sorry. I hate when they don't put a date on the article.
