Let's make a different assumption. A politician fools around with young stuff. While morally repulsive, it may not be fatal in the post-Clinton era. But the leaks have clearly pointed to something more - "shocking" and "nastier". What could that be? kink? an abortion? what else?

What I can't figure out is how he went from being a joke who had to mortgage his home for campaign money and was at about 5% in the polls, to being the great, shining hope of the Democrats! All in about one week. The whole thing is absurd and it wouldn't take a lot to bring him down again. He's hanging by a thread and it's all perceptions built up by these phony polls that have him beating GW by many points. Remember the similar polls that had Arnold way behind? Why should anyone believe any of it?

True. And the fact that nothing has turned up so far should be cautionary. What we have is: a Drudge story, a Clark comment that many who heard it claim was just an off-the-cuff hypothetical, her parents dislike of the man, and the comments of an unidentifed friend. Pretty thin stuff so far.

Maybe she's not hiding from the press; maybe she's hiding from Kerry. If she's willing to tell her story, she could be afraid of Kerry.
