Party politics seems to have deteriorated to gang warfare. The power hungry, monied elite, who commandeered the parties, used to exhibit a certain "honor among thieves" at least to their mutual benefit. Perhaps we have come to that time, as before in history, when one group is so obsessed with running the whole business that they are willing to "scorch the earth" in desperate hope they will somehow survive.
