Why do we/you have two threads going currently about this matter? Would you please ask the Lead Admin. to fix this?Agreed. Can we consolidate the threads? They are both moving quickly and it's difficult to follow both.

Echelon in the UK monitors all US calls. Echelon doesn't monitor voice, it monitors data.

I think this is common (having a foreign government spy on American citizens to get around constitutional and legal considerations). I don't think there is anything illegal about it. Why would anyone object to the government violating no laws?

We (the US and the Brits) were supposedly tapping the UN during the run up to the war with Iraq too.I hear the Brits are trying to put that whistleblower in jail. Seems reporting the crime is a more serious matter than performing it.

BTW, I think the sudden deluge of all this expletive-deleted makes it pretty clear to anyone with any brains at all that John Kerry is in some pretty deep kimchee.

Just so you know, Loftus thinks the Bush family is filled with Nazis and he also works with Bob Fertik, a known Clintonite...just want to give a bit of perspective here.

Echelon doesn't monitor voice, it monitors data.It monitors both:
Echelon is perhaps the most powerful intelligence gathering organization in the world. Several credible reports suggest that this global electronic communications surveillance system presents an extreme threat to the privacy of people all over the world. According to these reports, ECHELON attempts to capture staggering volumes of satellite, microwave, cellular and fiber-optic traffic, including communications to and from North America. This vast quantity of voice and data communications are then processed through sophisticated filtering technologies.

o the Brits have such a thing called a secret service?? sounds odd to me. He is talking about GCHQ. They are very good at what they do. They are the British version of the American NSA.

FNC can't be bothered to investigate the Kerry rumors. What in Hades are they doing giving a tinfoil type airtime for something like this?

This sounds like the kind of story the Clintons could offer up.
They would certainly have the inside knowledge.

Reeks of Watergate. If true it should have the same result. Your post reeks of naivete and a certain split from reality.

I'm sure his reasons for accusing the GOP of doing this are completely fair and non-partisan.
After all he says he serves on Muslim boards so that is proof positive that he's a caring, tolerant individual concerned with diversity.

Way too much of that going on lately and it does little to address the issue.

This vast quantity of voice and data communications are then processed through sophisticated filtering technologies. According to the original reports, and I have met personally with a few of the authors, the original version of Echelon did not monitor voice. Voice is monitored, but it is not by Eschelon. Eschelon was solely for sifting through data.

Here is something from John Loftus' last column:
Former Federal Prosecutor John Loftus confirms the Bush-Nazi scandal Copyright October 31. 2003 Some of our most famous American families, including the Bushes, made their fortunes from the Holocaust. Before I tell this awful story, I have to admit that I am a Democrat, but I quite like this President. He is not the sharpest tool in the shed, but he has a good heart, and the good sense not to follow in his father's footsteps. "W" has some good people around him who keep a firewall in the White House against his father's oil cronies. In terms of Republican politics, "W" is a rebel.
Morally, George W. Bush is the polar opposite of his grandfather and great grandfather (the "W" stands for Walker) who caused such havoc in the world with their Nazi investments. One cannot blame "W" for what his grandfather did, anymore than one can blame Jack Kennedy because his father bought Nazi stocks. What most people do not know is that Joseph Kennedy bought his Nazi stocks from Prescott Bush. Every great family has its scandal. The Bush family's scandal is that they funded Hitler and profited from the Holocaust...

Just so we know where these charges are coming from.
