It's certainly not a game. Our local law sheriff and the Border Patrol are doing the best they can with limited resources. The folks in DC could give a rat's hiney.
Ranch Rescue has concentrated their efforts around Douglas; Civil Homeland Defense and American Border Patrol usually work the Naco Corridor.
Our local sheriff has finally had a gut full and is now forming his own group of volunteers. There was a thread about it here on FR a couple of weeks ago, but it got pulled.

You call HIM names? Would you rather roll over like a beaten puppy and lick the balls of the foreign armed invader?
He has threatened nobody - he has simply stated that he will DEFEND the United States of America from a foreign invadiong army.
As I swore back in Jan 1969....
I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; That I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same .....
SO HELP ME GOD.

This week's discovery of 160 illegals jammed into one home in Phoenix didn't help either. When Ranch Rescue first made the news, Arizonans saw them as irrelevant hotheads. With every stash house and every carjacking, support for this movement is growing.

In my state you can't shoot someone unless they are in your house. I'm saying the bad guys shoot first, which seems to be the case when these guys are confronted.
This guy may be morally right but still end up in prison.
If he gets a jury trail by his peers, I doubt they would convict.

I affirmed the same oath, without the so help me God part, too, back in 1965. That does not make me a military of one now that I am discharged.
We have a military. We have law enforcement agencies. Theirs is the responsibility to defend our borders, not a bunch of trigger-happy "patriots."
The guy is an idiot. First, for telling people that he's going to shoot Mexican soldiers if they come on his property. Second, for believing that if he does so, he'll go unpunished.
You want our borders defended? Send a letter to Bush. He's in charge of the military.

I suppose it would pass as a posse. Their first project is to provide security for the school bus stops in the rural areas.
I expect additional duties will follow, particularly in the Naco Corridor. As of 31 January, illegal alien traffic was up 114% over the same time last year. I also expect the Mexican government to scream like a stuck pig if Sheriff Dever starts handing out badges...

In the event of an invasion of a foriegn military, I'm damned glad I won't have to rely on you to watch my back.

You wouldn't be one of those fat balding sissy conservatives who had too much to do when it came time to serve in the military, but now spends his time watching war movies while practicing your Patton speeches? I hope not.

Hey there, doesn't national policy welcome anything ILLEGAL into this country while turning a blind eye? Surely you are not suggesting that the government actually respond to an illegal incursion of this country by a foreign military force? We wouldn't want to upset the fox, would we?

I saw what happened to the innocent people at Waco.
Has anyone ever called you a sniveling weenie?

We have a military. We have law enforcement agencies. Theirs is the responsibility to defend our borders, not a bunch of trigger-happy "patriots." Those of us who live here in Cochise County wish that it would work that way. Unfortunately, it doesn't. Our sheriff has only 75 deputies to handle a county the size of the state of Connecticutt. The few hundred Border Patrol agents are trying to control very rough country 24 hours a day. The terrain is against them -- lots of man-high scrub and a maze of dry washes that makes their job similar to trench warfare.
They managed to catch about 180,000 here last year, but they privately estimate that 500,000 to 700,000 got past them. That's just for 80 miles of border.
The Border Patrol will not see any reinforcements in manpower or equipment. Dubya's FY 2005 budget proposal cuts their funding by $130 million.
As far as Jack Foote getting arrested -- he would be only one of several hundred suspects and the authorities know it.
