Appeals court ruling favors Terri Schiavo's parents
The Associated Press Published on: 02/13/04
TAMPA, Fla. -- Gov. Jeb Bush and the parents of a severely brain-damaged woman won two appellate court victories Friday in their quest to keep her alive against her husband's wishes.
The 2nd District Court of Appeal ruled that Bush's attorneys will be allowed to question witnesses in the court battle over a law that gave the governor authority to reinsert Terri Schiavo's feeding tube after her husband had it removed in October.
The appeals court also ruled that Pinellas Circuit Court Judge W. Douglas Baird did not follow judicial rules when he denied her parents, Robert and Mary Schindler, the ability to intervene in the constitutional challenge to the law.
The appeals court ordered Baird to hold further proceedings on the issue.
Schiavo's husband, Michael, has been battling the Schindlers in court for years to remove Terri's feeding tube so she can die. He says she would not have wanted to be kept alive artificially.
The Schindlers doubt their 40-year-old daughter, who lives in a Clearwater nursing home, had any such end-of-life wishes and believe her condition could improve with therapy. Their daughter has been in a persistent vegetative state for more than 13 years after collapsing from a chemical imbalance.

Yes, it isn't over yet but the spotlight is on Florida Judges for making BAD AND HASTY DECISIONS. Hopefully, Terri can get a dissolution and go on with her life.

Florida Judges seem to drop bombshells right before the weekend. This has happened before in Terri's matters. I'm sure the local Judges knew this was coming and probably left early today.
Everybody has my thanks - everyone overall saw through all the smoke and mirrors. Lots of us are seeing this through until Terri is with her real family who loves her.
I also feel a sense of loss for Carlie Brucia who was brutally murdered and Judge Harry M. Rapkin should be voted out of office next fall. He's not the type to resign, he's too arrogant and ego-maniacal.

Let this horrendous way to treat human beings be uncovered wherever it exists.
Florida seems to some kind of cruel testing ground in many ways, but let this be the beginning of the end for those who cannot speak for themselves and others who didn't understand what their attorney had them sign and HAVE CHANGED THEIR MIND AND ARE BEGGING FOR FOOD AND WATER. Yes, this is another disturbing reality. They cannot change their mind if they signed documents.

Hi,
Can you include me on your Terry ping list? I've been so busy at work today that I almost missed hearing about the ruling. It's great news.

Let's give CodysJacksMom a chance. She's just asking the same questions that all people who read only liberal papers ask.
Oh.
That was the clue. Now I get it.
OK, let's face the fact that some Newbies haven't got a clue that they are being brainwashed by a handful of controlling, communist-oriented, anti-life, anti-family, anti-constitutional, media moguls.
Let's also assume that they want to learn and that they have feelings that can get hurt by rejection, and then let's test our powers of persuasion for at least a day before giving them the web address of DU.

Thanks for the defense Tax. I have only had a computer in my home for about three-four weeks. I stumbled across FR while doing a search and have been hooked ever since. I am a Republican and support our President 100%! I am NOT a (I can't remember what word was used) spy?! I look forward to doing further research on this thread. It sounds as if it is an absolute tragedy. Thanks again! C.J.'s Mom.

Terri's case is a very interesting case. You can find out more about it by doing searches here at Free Republic by putting in the words Terri, Terri's, Schindler. I like to sort by date to get the most current.
Also Terri has a website:
http://www.terrisfight.org Felos, Michael's attorney, is or was a member of the Hemlock society and is trying to lower the bar about who has the right to live.
Michael is referred here as HINO - husband in name only, as he lives with another woman and fathered two children with her. Terri received a lot of money in a malpractice suit, which was suppose to be used for her care. There is circmstantial evidence that he caused Terri's collapse in the first place. Terri was planning to divorce him at the time. Her friend told her not to go home that night.
I think this case will shock you. Have you seen the videos of Terri? The family is not allowed to tape her by orders of Michael. They have to walk on eggshells even to visit with their daughter. Michael once refused to allow her brother to visit because he tried to feed her some pudding by mouth. There are nurses who have testified that Terri has uttered words. One testified that Michael may have tried to kill her with an insulin injection. She found a needle and other indications that Terri may have been injected. There are doctors who say Terri could be helped with rehabilitation.
Michael keeps her as a virtual prisoner. Nothing is allowed in the room that could stimulate her.

Hey, you've got a Dr. Laura style name, how bad can you be? There are so many people who don't get this case until they pull back the curtains and start learning details. Gov. Bush, who is now Terri's champion and Knight in Shining Armor started out making little PC comments about people's right to die when they were getting ready to starve and dehydrate her to death. Then when he learned the truth he got on board and got the legislature to do something.

Schiavo's husband, Michael, has been battling the Schindlers in court for years to remove Terri's feeding tube so she can die. Good news!
But I hate the semantics used by AP. Subtle, but still deceptive.
Here's how it should read:
Schiavo's husband, Michael, has been battling the Schindlers in court for years to remove Terri's feeding tube so she 'will' die.

Ok, I get the Rockford (IL) Register Star. I occasionally watch CNN. Lately, the only thing I've been reading is FR topics. I haven't heard any of the stuff thats been talked about in this thread. The focus of the things I've heard has been on the husband and his rights and all the things that have been done against him. I've never read anything about what has been done to Terri, or it seems, any accurate descriptions of her condition.
To: FR_addict
Thanks for the link FR_addict. I will definitely follow up on the info I've received.

I don't believe this person is a troll, of course only time will tell.
I think she is only misinformed about Terri. One of those who believe the story that Terri fell to a chemical imbalance brought on by an eating disorder, and that Terri is unresponsive, and on life support.
Hopefully, she will let us give her the information she is lacking.
