Pig lard to stop terror attacks From correspondents in Jerusalem February 12, 2004
ISRAELI police have come up with plans to place bags of pig lard on buses in a bid to deter Palestinian militants from carrying out suicide attacks, the Maariv daily reported.
Rabbinical authorities have given the idea its approval on the grounds that it could be a life-saving measure even though pigs are also considered impure by Jews.
Authorities believe that the move could discourage Palestinians from carrying out attacks as pieces of their exploded body could come into contact with the pig fat, prejudicing their chances of entering into paradise.
The paper said that the rabbinical dispensation could mean that security forces also hang bags of lard in shopping malls and schools.
Public buses have been a favourite target for Palestinian suicide bombers since the start of the intifada in September 2000.

Pork Rinds. A great idea. The airlines should make sure these are served on every flight. Or at least put them in a vending machine by the boarding ramp.

The Jews or the Great Satan made them do it. How could it be their fault? If you can think of an out then I'm sure the imams can, too. I doubt this will stop anything.

pig lard ... as opposed to some other kind of lard? I thought all lard came from hogs.
If this works, then it's a great idea. In fact, since lard spoils and needs to be replaced more frequently, some indistinguishable bags could be filled with Crisco shortening to expand the visible presence of these bags, or the lard could be diluted with shortening to look more substantial.
I once visited a restaurant in Taiwan that had hanging plastic bags and bottles of water to ward off something, perhaps mosquitos or evil spirits. (obviously, there were plenty of mosquitos there)

Why is it not possible to know what God condones?

As I said, I don't think it's possible for humans to understand God the Almighty, the Creator of all things. Do you know why God does what He does?

How about make eating a pork rind a requirement to board the aircraft? Nws, that wouldn't be sensitive to all of those peace loving islamists. We need to feed the whole bag to the litte old WASP lady from Iowa. </sarcasm>

I know what God doesn't condone, which is what you originally said, through the Bible. As to why he does what he does, I can understand that when it's explained in the Bible also. Outside of that I often don't understand.

While what Pershing was suppose to have done may be urban legend, the web site didn't say that it would not work. Now lining up a bunch of muslins and testing the theory may be overboard, but putting pig guts/blood on a bus is a good initial experiment.

Won't work. Mullahs will just issue a dispensation in their next fatwa.
