Growing frustration over President Bush's immigration plan and lack of fiscal discipline came to a head behind closed doors at last weekend's Republican retreat in Philadelphia.
House lawmakers, stunned by the intensity of their constituents' displeasure at some of Mr. Bush's key domestic policies, gave his political strategist Karl Rove an earful behind closed doors.

Your messiah Tancredo, perhaps?
That strategery will sit well with his politically active constituents.
"Count on" is a little strong. I'd like to be able to say you can count on me, but the fact is I have never voted for a republican or democrat in a presidential race, so I have no track record to hang my hat on. And while I certainly prefer President Bush over the democrat candidate--whoever it will be--I am not 100% confident that I won't toss my vote in the trash again. I did it last time.
But I can say with certainty that I am not in favor of "anyone but Bush." I am striving to make the best, wisest choice with my one vote out of 300 million votes come November. I strongly believe that that means voting for GWB. But sometimes he has a way of really setting me off. We shall see.
And if it is mass deportation please spell out the logistics and costs of such an operation to round up 8,000,000 people.
I live in Vermont; Tancredo is a representative to Congress from the state of Colorado.
My Messiah is Jesus Christ the Son of God. Just wanted to get that straight.
No problem there.I do have a problem when it morphs into third party ranting. I have a problem when it is spoon fed to those who take a policy disagreement and turn it into a hostile weapon that destroys our interests. I do have a problem when principle is the excuse for suicide.
Say hi to Howie when he gets home.
What the hell are you talking about. Bush appointed them. It is interesting that you do not have a peep of criticism of the demos who threw out 200 years of Senate precendent on the voting of Judicial nominees.
Oh that's right the demos are your friends, nevermind.
Also the demos hate the education bill since it has standards that the public schools and the teachers unions can't meet.
Well that's good enough for me! So long as Bush Jr. can mumble his usual monosyllabic stammering utterances about this or that, I'm convinced. Especially since I'm from Southern California and know, as this brilliant man does, that the faster you import massive numbers of third world migrants, the happier everyone will be.
It takes one to know one, with your stammering repeat mantra of hyperpole.
BTW, what is your solution to the immigration problem, please spell out the logistics and costs of rounding up 8,000,000 people.
Then perhaps his constituents should encourage him not to grandstand by revealing what transpired at a confidential meeting.
Beef up the Border Patrol to levels commensurate with the problem.
Deny illegals benefits like drivers licenses, college tuition, social security, etc.
Beef up whatever the INS is called these days to handle legal immigration and to deal with the illegals.
Change the law or the Constitution from making anyone born here an automatic citizen.
When we've done all that, then we can start mass deportations of illegals.
And then we can endure weeks, months, and maybe even YEARS of how much this is going to cost and what it is doing to our budget.
Have you figured out the cost of MASS DEPORTATION of hundreds of thousands of illegals?
Of course our INS is physically incapable of such mass deportation of millions.
So many times the formula for self-deportation has been posted. The key is enforcing employer sanctions. The employer sanctions have to beefed up with an online database of SS numbers. No jobs, and 50% of illegal aliens will be gone in 6 months. The rest we get to later

Then how come you are so quiet and don't focus any animus about the demo big city mayors who ignore the law.
Deny illegals benefits like drivers licenses, college tuition, social security, etc.
I agree, but temporary workers should be able to get drivers licenses and make sure they are insured. BTW, are you going to force native born Americans by gunpoint to take menial jobs or force business owners to raise their wages to $20 an hour for a dishwasher?
Change the law or the Constitution from making anyone born here an automatic citizen
Then write Congress asking for a Constitutional amendment.
When we've done all that, then we can start mass deportations of illegals
And how many people will that take. You are silent. The US has 150,000 troops in Iraq with a population of 22 million. But there job is not the forced relocation of people. My appx. is that it will take at least a million troops and for what to get people who for the most part are doing the crime of washing dishes and cleaning toilets.
JMO, Kristinn this problem is much more complicated and will not be solved with simplistic hyperbole.
