Pentagon Scraps Internet Voting System"
Updated: Friday, Feb. 6, 2004 - 1:40 PM
By JOHN J. LUMPKIN
Associated Press Writer
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "(AP) - Citing security concerns, the Pentagon has canceled Internet voting that would have involved as many as 100,000 military and overseas citizens from seven states in November, a Defense Department official said Thursday.
The announcement comes two weeks after outside security experts urged the program's cancellation in a scathing report. They said hackers or terrorists could penetrate the system and change votes or gather information about users. At the time, the Pentagon said it felt confident enough to proceed."

U.S. soccer team hears Osama chants in Mexico
Associated Press
Feb. 6, 2004 12:30 PM
ZAPOPAN, Mexico - The Mexican crowd hooted "The Star-Spangled Banner." It booed U.S. goals. It chanted "Osama! Osama! Osama!" as U.S. players left the field with a 2-0 victory.
And that was in a game against Canada on Thursday before just 1,500 people.

I've been watching some news coverage about President Reagan. I was a little too young to appreciate what a great president he was when he was in office, but watching some of the retrospectives make me realize just how great he was. He stood up to Communism/Socialism/Marxism with a quite confidence that I have never seen in any other politician. He had a "real person" quality to him that was genuine. Bush doesn't seem so great compared to Reagan.
They showed his address to the nation when the Challenger exploded. He took the time to talk to any children that were listening and said something that people should be mindful of today:
"The future doesn't belong to the faint hearted, it belongs to the brave"

Mexico, as a nation, is ripe for the picking with the overall sense of desperation, poverty, and helplessness.
Someday there will be a revolution in Mexico, and what the AP reported puts a certain urgency to this event unfolding.

Thanks for the link, there are some great quotes there. Here's another one that is appropriate today:
"It is up to us...to work together for progress and humanity so that our grandchildren, when they look back at us, can truly say that we not only preserved the flame of freedom, but cast its warmth and light further than those who came before us."
