Catholics are pagans, protestantss are not.

The trinity, Virgin Mary and various female depictions consign Catholics to the same category as Hindus.

Any depiction of human form or face to the jihadiSaudi islamis is idolatry. Including Orthodox icons.

Actually what I was told by the imam at Al Azhar in Cairo when I visited there back in the 1980's was that Protestants are considered pagans as well - specifically polytehists = because protestants believe that Jesus is the Son of God. (My ex was trying to make me convert and thought the dude at Azhar could convince me. Not a chance.)

This is specifically addressed in these verses from the Quran:
"And your God is one God; there is no god but He! He is the Beneficent, the Merciful." (2:163).

"Say: He, Allah, is One. Allah is He on Whom all depend. He begets not, nor is He begotten; And none is like Him". (Chapter 112).

I've seen some interesting discussions of this. Since Muslims also believe there are 99 different names for Allah, the argument has been made that this is in essence a form of the same thing that most Muslims will disavow completely.

It gets interesting reading the material.

OPINION:

I read the weekly piracy report and often check various trucking news sources. Whether AQ has a navy seems to be a low point of contention, at least to me.

It seems that AQ and other jihadis, have shown an interest in attempting to access transportation sources for their evil intentions. AQ (at least according to media articles and other online investigative reports; has shown an interest in planes, trucks, ships, and trains. That said, in foreign coutries, incidents in the past are documented where bombs have been placed on parked bicycles, donkeys have been used to launch missiles, and cars, small trucks, and ambulances have been used for suicide-HOMICIDE bombings.

Bottom line, "navy" or no navy; our enemies hate us and what lengths they will go to in their attempt to destroy America and Americans is the more important point.

I see your point.

Usually the jihadi forums describe Christians as "infidels" and the general "moderate" muslim boards describe Christians as "people of the book." On rare occasions, I have seen hot-heads substitute the word "pagan" for "infidel", but that is rare. I'm trying to remember where I saw that. If I recall correctly, that may have been on a vegan-related discussion board.

Hey, I think the Black Rock of the Kaabah is a Shiva Lingam. Ask the imam about that and watch his pointy head explode.

Yes, but they are upping the ante so to speak. The rhetoric is heating up because their manpower losses in terms of capture and killed are mounting up. They are trying to further inflame things.

By the way, there are postings popping up on the Arabic boards with regularity claiming Saddam has escaped, and that Usay and Qusay are still alive and leading the resistance.

The first by pulling people under the rallying cry if jihad against the infidel.

The second is an attempt to show that the old regime is reconstituting, in the hopes of intimidating those who would cooperate with the coalition forces, and pulling them together under a fictional leader.

It's been many many years since I was in Egypt and I think I'd probably get thrown out on my ear at Al Azhar these days. They don't like outspoken women :)

Just returned from searching for recent posts by Sean Lomax. He posted yesterday on the anomalies bulletin board. However, the most recent posting on that board- not by Sean-caught my attention. Here it is:

BTW, this morning while scanning the news, caught one of the many "experts" speaking of a three way deal involving Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan to deliver OBL or such of the AQ leadership as is available. Seems Pervez is on the hot seat,(nothing new there, only the heat is rising) with the admission of nuclear secrets admittedly being dealt by Afghan scientists, and has decided to jump in feet first after facing the possiblity of action without his approval. Somehow the scenario being proposed sounded familiar, as if I had heard rumors somewhere else.

Report: Palestinian [terrorist] groups, Islamists plan ''huge'' attacks against Israeli targets
Al Bawaba ^ | 19-02-2004

An Arab diplomat in the Jordanian capital is quoted as saying Thursday by al Siyasah newspaper that Palestinian and Islamist groups have decided in a meeting earlier this month to launch huge attacks within Israel and against its interests in Asia, Africa and Mideast countries.

According to the Kuwaiti newspaper, the scope of the attacks will resemble the latest attacks in Iraq that claimed the lives of hundreds of US soldiers and Iraqis.

It added that the new decision was taken in order to stop growing criticism on the Arab street about their "silence" towards Israeli activities.

The diplomat told the daily that the summit was held in Lebanon and was attended by senior leaders of Al Qaeda, Ansar al Islam, Hizbullah, Hamas, Islamic Jihad and the two Popular Fronts.

The unordinary meeting was held on February 3-4 in a Palestinian refugee camp in northern Lebanon - near Tripoli, and was attended also by officers from the Syrian and Iranian intelligence.

Specifically, the participants decided to target Israeli offices in Jordan, Oman, Qatar, Egypt and Turkey in addition to Israel. The officials also discussed a list of names of Israeli politicians, military officers and diplomats slated to be assassinated.

The diplomat, who confirmed the participation of two Lebanese intelligence officers, said that all in all, the meeting included 40 participants.

Residents of the refugee camp that observed the reinforced security measures were told the meeting was aimed at discussing "future Israeli aggression against Lebanon and its Palestinian refugee camps."

The diplomat added that during the meeting, Syrian and Lebanese officials expressed opposition that their borders will be used for attacks against Israel. (Albawaba.com)

>>>99 different names for Allah

They come so close.

99 bottles of beer on the wall
99 bottles of beeeeer . . .
Take one down, pass it around
98 bottles of beer on the wall
.
.
.1 bottle of beer on the wall
1 bottle of beeeeer . . .
Take one down, pass it around
No more bottles of beer on the wall.

Thanks. That makes a lot of sense from what I'm trying to follow.

DISCLAIMER: I don't think for a second that any of this makes sense....I mean it purely as trying to follow this twisted train of thought.

I don't think the Quran deferentiates between Catholics and Protestants. I think they are defined as Christians and are both classified as 'people of the book'.

Since you can read Arabic, have you ever read the Quran in Arabic?

I've read three different translations; but I have no way of knowing what the Arabic says.

Is there a NONviolent way of being a Muslim? Or do they all have to achieve the Caliph by going forth and converting/enslaving/putting to death the nonbelievers?
