Healthy 40 year old pilots don't just get sick and die in a matter of hours.

pretty odd that they both died so fast!

"Why indeed is the question. One possibility that I am hearing repeatedly and consistently is that there are some major problems and infighting within and between the inteligence and federal law enforcement agencies. And I mean MAJOR problems!!! Perhaps these people feel they have nowhere else to go, the nation is in extreme peril and they find it hard sleeping at night knowing what they know. So they talk."

There is a lot of infighting between agencies at the Federal and state levels in this country, and believe it or not, most of it is jockeying over the billions of dollars of Homeland Security money available. You wouldnt believe it. Its a feeding frenzy.

Speaking of MJ, I was very disheartened hearing someone who has been one of his biggest critics and one I admired is now going to be his spokesman

Armstrong Williams

"I am told they use highly sophisticated and sensitive radiological sniffers. I believe general searches are from heliborne/aircraft sensors, then the ground crews come in for the detail work when they find a hot spot"

You were told right.

Remember those posts from Debka about the Pakistani who acted as mules and developed symptoms consistent with radiation poisoning?

Musharraf is not fully in control of the entire Pakistan territory. I read there are a lot of mountainous, lawless regions, where the warloards rule. Also, the ISI practically created the Taliban and I am sure they have connections to AQ still.

Remember the attempts on Musharraf's life was also based on inside info.

I think Musharraf made his tough choice a while ago and is indeed committed to eradicating the terrorists and extremists, but, as I said, it's a very difficult task.

another story says this: Sources said police are investigating whether the pilots died after taking Methanol on their own or someone had encouraged them to drink the spirit.

I read a novel years ago (forgot the title) where a nuke was hidden in a building on an upper floor. In that novel, it was stated that from the ground, the NEST teams can only scan up to about the 4th floor with their equipment. Any knowledge of this?

A MUST READ!

But no sensible person could believe that the launching of cruise missiles over the Atlantic and satellites into space combined with the test-firing of ballistic missiles would make the military better able to interdict a group of terrorists, even if they had managed to get hold of a nuclear weapon.

When the military last held war games of a similar scale, in 1982, both the Kremlin and the White House knew perfectly well what they were for -- to simulate a global nuclear war. The planned exercises will also simulate a U.S.-Russian nuclear war, and the Russian side should not pretend otherwise.

The strategic exercises are clearly intended to send a message to Washington, but also to the voters at home as President Vladimir Putin comes up for re-election.

I have just learned in the past 3 hours, much to my dismay, that the threat actually consists of over 30 some-odd devices. These devices are scattered across the country in major metro areas in multiples of 4 or 5 per location. They are being actively sought by US SOF with great urgency since this past holiday season..

Sean - that is frightening news indeed. HOWEVER..

IF the bad guys have pre-positioned nukes on American soil, why haven't they used them yet?

They have had ample opportunity for "spectacular" strikes:

Yet, nothing has "gone up in a mushroom cloud".

Not to be cynical, but I am very doubtful as to the accuracy of the info. IF AQ has nukes, they sure could have done some SERIOUS damage by now - and on a timetable that would have complied with their hyperbolic threats (remember "the countdown clock" and the "we will nuke NYC by 2/2" statement?)

The countdown clock has expired. Nothing went "boom".

I have serious doubts that AQ nukes is a "real" threat, but thank you for passing along the information. (I did believe this at one point given the huge amount of info out there on Russian suitcase nukes and the quite believable possibility that AQ had acquired at least "a handful" of them - but, the lack of vaporized cities makes me think that all of this hypothesizing and associated rumor mills is just interesting conjecture that may be frightening beyond words but not necessarily based in fact).

I guess that's what makes this thread valuable - we hear all sorts of data points, and can come to our own individual conclusions on what is real, and what is put out for whatever other political or positioning purposes.
