JUDGE BORK CAMPAIGNS FOR TOOMEY
SPECTER CAMPAIGN DOUBLETALK CONTINUES
PA PROLIFE ONLINE NEWS
Monday, February 2, 2004; Vol. VIII, No. 3
By Mary Beliveau, Legislative/PAC Director (beliveau@paprolife.org)
As Senator Specter continues his Republican primary doubletalk to make pro-life voters think that he supports life, Judge Robert Bork appeared at a January 8 Pittsburgh press conference to remind voters of Specter's record and that Specter could be dangerous as chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, if he is re-elected.
Bork's presence on the campaign trail was a reminder to voters of Specter's key role in keeping Bork from winning his nomination battle to the U.S. Supreme Court in 1987, one year after he promised to support all the President's nominees to the Supreme Court in his 1986 election rhetoric.
Bork stated that "Arlen Specter has run twice before this, since my confirmation hearings, and I never came out and opposed him
The only reason I am doing so now is that he has an excellent challenger, Congressman Toomey."
Bork further stated that "We are getting a judiciary, particularly a Supreme Court, that is extremely permissive
Since Senator Specter favors that kind of judging," if he becomes the chairman of the Judiciary Committee, Bork predicted that "we will get more of it."
"It's quite clear that he doesn't think that judges ought to stick to the original understanding of the Constitution, but up to other considerations - primarily political and social, " Bork said of Specter.
In Specter's book, "Passion for Truth," he makes clear his activist judicial philosophy and brags about his key role in Bork's defeat.
Beware of Specter's campaign rhetoric. Remember: He voted for an amendment to the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban that affirmed the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision - a decision that legalized abortion on demand throughout pregnancy, which includes partial-birth abortions. Specter supports taxpayer funding of abortion and leads the national effort to clone human embryos to be killed for scientific experimentation (S.303).
It's important to keep the facts straight. Don't be deceived by campaign rhetoric.

Specter is also doing phone polling. They stopped questioning me right after I told them I was definitely voting for Toomey. They also polled my wife. She told them that she was definitely voting for Toomey, but they went on for at least 10 minutes of questions. They seemed to try to be pushing her to believe that Toomey was not family friendly. They asked her if the fact that he'd owned a nightclub would make her less likely to vote for him. And then they asked her if she was aware that he'd voted in favor of RU-486 (before his wife had their first child and he became a committed pro-lifer). And on and on trying to see which smear would work for Arlen's campaign.

Talk about negativism. Sorry but Daschle won't be controlling the Senate and Kerry won't be sitting in the White House. Churchill would have chewed up your pessimistic attitude.

This is such rich irony. I love this.
EVERY SENATOR who Borked Bork lives under a cloud of shame, and EVERY ONE who doesn't repent his unprincipled cowardice should be made to pay, politically.
And Senator MacSpectre is no exception. To say the MacLeast.
