COMING TO AMERICA'Illegal immigrant'
an offensive slur? Latinos resent term, compare it to use of N-word for blacks

Though it might be technically accurate, calling someone who entered the U.S. in an unlawful manner "illegal" has become politically incorrect.
"I can't speak for other immigrant groups," activist Jerry Gonzalez told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, "but on behalf of the Latino community, many people I speak to on a day-to-day basis think it serves to dehumanize the person, makes them less than human. Similar to the way the n-word was used to dehumanize African-Americans."
Gonzales, who oversees the Georgia Association of Latino Elected Officials, says many Latinos are offended by the labels.
"It's easy to dismiss someone when you use a disparaging term such as 'illegal immigrant' or 'illegal alien,'" said Gonzalez.
The Atlanta daily reports the activist plans to lobby state lawmakers to use the term "undocumented workers" when talking about Mexicans and other foreigners in the U.S. illegally.

On Thursday, I took two calls on the Bush proposal to increase the National Endowment for the Arts' budget. (See: Who Needs the NEA?) As part of his continuing strategy to peel off Democrat voters by growing government, Bush wants to force all of us to give the NEA $15 to $20 million in 2004. Where in the Constitution does it say the federal government will fund art? If we like it, we can fund it on our own.
Rush I heard your show while in the car and we loved the end, the rest of the shows just are not as interesting -g-

A question about Hizballah and Mexico
Terence Jeffrey (archive)
January 28, 2004 | Print | Send
Politicians serious about preventing another Sept. 11 should listen to the leader of Hizballah, and then read an indictment unsealed this month in Detroit.
"Let the entire world hear me," said Sheik Hassan Nasrallah on Sept. 27, 2002. "Our hostility to the Great Satan is absolute."

GOP weighs value of Bush immigration plan
Washington Times ^ | 1/30/04 | Ralph Z. Hallow

Republican leaders see little chance of a significant grass-roots revolt over President Bush's immigration policy, but some wonder whether his proposal has any short-term benefits for him politically.
"I know why Bush raised [the guest-worker issue] in his State of the Union speech it was the right thing to do, even though there is almost zero chance Congress will pass it in this election year," said David Norcross, chairman of the Republican National Convention in New York.

Dear Friends,
The Republican Party Platform that George Bush ran on called for a total overhaul of our immigration system and criticized the Clinton Administration for lax enforcement of our immigration laws. But, President Bush's recently announced so-called immigration reform does nothing to secure our borders. In fact, his suggested plan makes things worse --- a lot worse and a lot more dangerous.

Thanks for the link, this like a nightmare, it just gets worse and worse. Both parties are in a pissing contest too see which party can bankrupt this country first, meanwhile Mexico is gear up for a full scale war with the U.S. if their passive style invasion of the U.S. does not work out.
And most out our military is on the other side of the planet.

Hey what happened to our logo? Sorry, I host it at home, and my cable was taken out for 12 hours this morning by high winds. I use a cable modem for my Internet connection so...kablooey. That doesn't happen that often so (knock on wood) it should be OK now.
