Again, we're talking about a few million dollars here. Nothing, in government terms

Look at it this way: It's the entire tax bill of several thousand of your neighbors.

Now, go tell them it's "nothing". In government terms, of course.

Again, the problem is neither party has any loyalty to the U.S. Constitution! Yet, every president, every member of Congress, and every court justice takes an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States. Unfortunately, the vast majority of these people prove on a daily basis that they have no intention of honoring their oath of office.

Until the American people begin holding their elected officials accountable to the U.S. Constitution, it will not matter one iota which party is in the White House and which party controls Congress! In fact, until the American people awaken to this reality, the best we can hope for is a divided federal government. By that I mean, when one party controls the White House, be sure the other party controls Congress and vice versa. Liberty and freedom will not long survive one party, Republican or Democrat, in control of the entire federal government!

Of course, the real solution resides with the American people becoming a constitutionally informed, educated, and committed electorate. Is anyone holding their breath?

I think they got 7 Senate seats in 1994 and 50 House seats also.

2002 was 5 Senate seats, and a half dozen House seats, IIRC.

Truth be told, all of us are "marginal voters". You or I have a better chance of winning the lottery than having a single vote make a difference.

I do find it sort of interesting how often the GOP apologists say they "don't need our vote". In truth, one vote won't matter, but it is awfully damn arrogant considering they only won Florida by 500 votes. A few other states were almost that close.

Terry McAuliffe will french kiss you for your principled stands just as the DNC's media readers are enjoying your principled stands.

Not as much as they are enjoying Bush's spending spree.

Gee, it is just a 15 to 20 Million dollar increase and we get all the commotions here. The price tag is less than the 50 Million dollar price tag for the Rainforest in Iowa project, or compare this to the other porkies like to the 5 million dollar funding for a "green energy" Hooters restaurant in Louisiana or the million dollar project to clean up a swimming pool in Nevada, or how about a government financed celebration of Alaska statehood (cost 300,000 dollars), or the million dollar project to study the DNA of Bears in Montana? I'd rather get some good PR for a 15 to 20 million price tag than to fund all those absolute ridiculous things like Rainforest in Iowa crap.

Seeing how Bush's plan was and still is DOA, I'm not to worried about that. Most rational people knew it was never going to pass Congress especially the House.

Only difference is the amount of the deficit, which is less in the case of the Democrats because they would overspend without a face-saving meager tax rate reduction. We are doomed.

But the Rats would cut defense spending, so don't lose hope.

Where do you think the electorate stands on the funding for this stuff?

Instead of pontificating about it, let's examine some actual election results. The last time any party won in a landslide was the Republicans in 1994. And they supported abolishing not only the NEA, but also 4 cabinet departments. They got about 55% of the vote.

The Contract with America was all but given a pass by the media in 1994. Because of that many in the mushy middle joined conservatives in voting for it.

Well then, the R Congress gets elected in '94 and along comes the media in '95 with its constant barrage against Newt and the Contract and by the end of '95 the mushy middle ended it's support of decreased government spending as they believed the propaganda that children and god-knows-what would be tossed in the streets by the mean R's. The mushy middle was scared off by the media in '95 and the election of '94 was just the absence of this -- all to the benefit of the Clintons.

In 2000 -- the last presidential vote -- Al Gore and Ralph Nader received a majority of the vote. It is my guess that these voters can't get enough of government spending.

In his Farewell Address, our first and greatest President, George Washington, loquaciously lobbied the American people to guard against over-infatuation with political parties. Anyone reading his warnings today will be impressed with his insight and sagacity. Virtually everything he predicted has come to pass. Blind loyalty to political parties has corrupted our public institutions, blinded the hearts and minds of the American people, and opened wide the door to undue foreign influence.

I'll admit, should he win the primary, I will hold my nose and vote for him because of the bigger picture and we need to keep control of the senate .. but he DOES NOT have my vote in the primary

The Constitution Party is not going to be in double-digits, but let's dream anyway - a double-digit turnout for the Constitution Party equals a Democrat in the Oval Office. And I'll tell you what: In the current environment, one day - if it is a significant one - is too long to have a Democrat sitting behind that desk.
