There is no doubt in my mind that there never was a Jewish Temple on the site that everyone is fighting over. The Moslems can have the site they refer to as the Haram, because it's only historical importance is as the Roman Fortress Fort Antonia which housed the Roman Tenth Legion which occupied Jerusalem during the time of Herod and into the fourth century. The Jewish people placed no importance on this site until the 16th century when a Jewish mystic Isaac Luria designated the Western Wall of Fortress Antonia as the Wailing Wall. Biblical scripture and historical witness testify to the Temples being just south of the Fort. The Temples were located on the Gihon Springs, the only fresh water source in Jerusalem. The Jewish people can rebuild their Temple today if desired as the site is unoccupied and not in dispute.
