I was stationed in Taipei in 64-65, first with USARSCAT (
United States Army Strategic Communications Agency, Taiwan)
at the downtown microwave site. We supported Island Communications from Taipei tp Tainan and Tropo to Philapines and Okie. Later was on Grass Mountain site (65)and became part of Stratcom, United States Army Strategic Command.
Can't tell you much else about what rest ie: Taipei Air Station etc was doing.

I know...I'm dealing with them now. They want the smallest unit details. MAAG isn't small enough. Would be nice to be able to find a unit history..which I'm trying to do.
Thanks.

This is a pretty old thread, but what do you want to know about MAAG Taiwan. I was attached from 1960-1963. And as someone said, MAAG was not a part of US Taiwan Defense Command USTDC. MAAG was joint service, Army, Navy and AF with people located all over Taiwan. Its been a while but I have a pretty good memory of the MAAG organization on Taiwan.

Hey, been about a month, but if you check back...
My wife's father was MAAG. Tianan AS. 62-63. Army unit. Any idea what type of Army units composed MAAG-Taiwan? Seems to be some air defense missle units, but not sure of what else. In order to get info from National Archives, it seems we need the unit. ie 2nd Battalion Missle 71st Artillery.
Were you army?--thanks

(Would Dems in 1904 be running on ideas from 1835? That's what they do now.)

I used to work at Taiwan Defence Command while in the army back in 1970 to 1972, we called it TDC Maag and it was located in Taipai.

I worked for Stratcom Taiwan (1970-1971) while there I was assigned to the island of Quemoy to operate the communications center there. I was part of a 5 man MAAG Advisory team. Went went by the name of KDCAT (Kinmen Defense Command Advisory Team). The Officer in charge was a MAAG Full Colonel. I can still remember the Maag banner in the hostel where we lived.
