WASHINGTON (CNN) -- A U.S plane filled with Libyan nuclear components landed this morning at a U.S. facility in Knoxville, Tennessee, for destruction, a senior administration official said.

"It is chock full of nuclear materials," the official said. "They let us take out some extraordinary stuff."

The amount of restricted airspace in Tennessee is really quite amazing. I was ferrying a Piper Colt over the state using my handheld GPS. Like a rat thru a maze. Oh that's just silly. There are countless countries that would be more than willing to make some deals with Libya and thwart imposed sanctions. Russia, France and Germany vis-a-vis Iraq would be an example of such.

A little geography help - the bullion depository is at Fort Knox, which is in KY, not TN. I moved gold there the summer after H.S. to support a joint Treasury / GAO audit. Dad was Deputy Provost Marshall of Forst Knox, and played golf with the guys in charge of the depository, so I had an "in" when it came time to hire casual labor.

And yes, that Oak Ridge restricted area is pretty big. I was involved in the construction of some office buildings for Bechtel and SAIC in the late '80s in the town there, and looked at some maps of the area once.
