WASHINGTON (AP) - New intelligence indicates that British Airways flights from London to Washington and Air France flights from Paris to an unspecified U.S. city could be terrorist targets, U.S. officials said Friday.

Some of the flights are the same as those that drew increased attention when the nation's terror alert was raised to orange, or high, just before Christmas. Two officials who spoke on condition of anonymity stressed there is no specific information about what might be planned, only that those flights are possible targets.

There are no plans to raise the terror alert because of the latest threats, Homeland Security Department spokesman Brian Roehrkasse said.

In a joint press conference on Thursday, January 22, Saudi Arabia and the United States called upon the UN Sanctions Committee to designate four branches of the Al-Haramain Islamic Foundation as financial supporters of terrorism. This finding is the result of a strong partnership between Saudi Arabia and various U.S. agencies in ongoing investigations to identify and shut down terrorist financing.

On Thursday, January 29, the United Nations Security Council announced that the four branches (Al-Haramain Islamic Foundation in Indonesia, Pakistan, Kenya and Tanzania) have been designated and are subject to UN sanctions, which trigger international obligations on all member countries and subjects the organizations to actions based on local laws.
