Y'all ever seen the movie "Twelve Monkeys"? It made my skin crawl when I first saw it and that was before 9/11.
Seeing this just brings it right back to the forefront in my mind. brrrrrr!

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "ARBIL, IRAQ  (ANS) -- Suicide bombers turned part of northern Iraq in a pool of blood Sunday, February 1, killing at least 56 people and wounding 200 others in near-simultaneous attacks that shook the offices of two Iraqi Kurdish political parties, American and Kurdish officials said.

Witnesses said the attackers blew themselves up after making their way through checkpoints outside the party offices, where dozens of people had gathered to celebrate the start of the Muslim Eid al-Adha festival, or feast of the sacrifice.

The blasts in Arbil, 350 kilometers (about 220 miles) north of Baghdad, came a day after 18 people died in attacks, including a car bomb explosion in Mosul, build on ruines of Nineveh where the Bible claims Prophet Jonah brought a message of repentance."

This is why I think they won't hit us with communicable bio. Anthrax (non-communicable) - possibly. Smallpox - frightening, but unlikely, IMHO.

It could come right back at them via international travel. (The world is a very small place nowdays). And, while I know there are some here who subscribe to the belief that the jihadis don't care, I'm not so sure that they really want their own countries decimated by something like Smallpox.

So now that the Superbowl has come and gone, how do you feel about EOM's threat?

Well, I feel pretty much the same as I have all along - that "EOM" is BS, pure and simple.

As I've written before..ANYONE can post at that board and use the name "EOM". And, since this "character" uses proxies, we cannot verify his/her identify via consistent IPs.

I do not doubt we are at enormous risk of attack (eg: flight cancellations from this weekend, which I'm sure were based on real intelligence). I just HIGHLY doubt that a "real" AQ member is going to give us notice via a message board on the 'net. Instead, I believe they will hit us when we LEAST EXPECT IT.

I coined the term "jihad by the keyboard" a month or so back, and I strongly believe that is what many of us have been experiencing these past couple of months. Vague, empty threats that never come to fruition - but cause lots of people a whole lot of stress and frustration.

For the record, "EOM" has said at least 5 or 6 times in the past month that "NOW" is going to be the time that we will all die horribly. (New Years Eve was a doozy.."when the ball drops..you all go boom"). Needless to say - we are all still here and doing quite fine. And we will be on 2/5 as well, IMHO.

After this week, I'm leaving it to the alphabets to do the worrying.

Tanker accident shuts down Interstate 75; traffic detoured into North Port


NORTH PORT -- A tanker truck carrying a hazardous material flipped over on Interstate 75 just before 7 a.m., shutting down the highway in both directions during the Monday morning rush hour.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers said they have yet to determine if the accident resulted in any accidents or injuries.

Southbound traffic is being routed onto River Road. Northbound traffic is being routed onto Toledo Blade Boulevard.

FHP troopers said they were working to determine the contents. Early reports said the material caused fires near the accident.

That's exactly right. I can't tell you how much anxiety these keyboard jihads caused. Anyway, here it is 2/2 and I'm at my desk here in Manhattan. All seems normal, security seems the same as it's been for the past two weeks. I'll feel a lot better once today is over. I really believe we've foiled many attempts over the past couple of weeks. But we know they'll keep trying and it's nice to know we can always come back to this thread during the rough times.
