Liz, I just went to a dozen popular news sites and nothing! On cable news it is scanty and brief. The news has to be being blacked-out and that is scarey! I cannot get a line on the Continental flight whats so ever!

I know nothing about mortars but I'm thinking that would be a tough thing to do. These stadiums are mostly steel and concrete, lots of concrete. Years ago, for fun I worked in the suites at Anaheim Stadium for the Ram games and I remember that stadium was almost all concrete. They also mentioned this morning the roof will be closed at Reliant.

Closing the roof is good I guess. Otherwise all the squishy bits sitting on top of all that concrete are exposed to aerial attack.

Of course, a sealed dome is ideal for confining radio isotopes, germs, gases and the force of an explosion.

That's why I don't work in security, I prefer doing things where there actually is a right answer...

It's odd that nothing can be found on it. Newark and Houston are the main hubs for Continental. I thought the New Jersey Star Ledger would at least have something about it.

Would like to know what they found in the cargo hold.

Something about this story doesn't set right with me. Too difficult of an operation to pull off. If the goal is to use a weapon to produce mass casualties, then trying to sneak WMD into the country from abroad on an airplane seems like such a low probability of success that its not worth the effort. Why not just carry the weapon into to a place like Grand Central Station during rush hour, or explode a truck bomb in Times Square.

If it's a multi-pronged attack, I'd say that the Port of Miami is a target. There are thousands of people boarding various cruise ships this afternoon. There are also cargo ships and containers from all over the world. Drop a plane with radiological/bio/chem material in there and it's a major mess.

OKC BOMBING FALLOUT

Ex-congressman's aide has video of explosion?
Police raid home for evidence Nichols' attorneys say investigators never saw

The Fairfax County, Va., home of John Culbertson – once a member of former U.S. Rep. James Traficant's scandal-plagued congressional office – was raided Friday afternoon by Oklahoma City police detectives searching for evidence related to the 1995 Oklahoma City bombing.

A copy of the search warrant obtained by the McCurtain Daily Gazette described the evidence sought by detectives as including any and all computer equipment, letters, correspondence, electronic mail and image files.

IMHO, THAT is exactly the "real" reason for the war in Iraq, and what we will likely continue to do in the ME.

I agree. It's the shining bug light on the hill for the islamofascists...

Liz where have your been, don't you know the most important thing to talk about in this country is Michael Jackson or the dimwit campaign?? What was that verse about Nero fiddling while Rome burned?

At least all of us are doing our best and if something happens we will know at least we tried to do something!! I have to say right now while I can it's just been a real pleasure to be here on this thread with all of you. (leaving out the weirdos that pop in now and then to bother us and try to bump us to chat or off altogether)

They are puting a close time frame on this threat. If nothing happens they are finished, then again, 300 terrorist are mentioned. Can you immagine 300 snipers or bombers throughout the country. We'll have to wait and see I guess.

HOMELAND INSECURITY
U.S. officials fear 'dirty bombs' on airliners
Intelligence indicates terrorists want to smuggle device in cargo, use bio-chem weapons

Posted: February 1, 2004

Al-Qaida terrorists want to release a chemical or biological weapon aboard an airliner, or transport a radiological device inside a piece of luggage, according to intelligence cited by senior Bush administration officials.

The threat information doesn't indicate a specific method to bring down a plane or spread an illness but U.S. intelligence officials have been concerned for some time that al-Qaida is trying to bring unconventional weapons aboard an airliner, a U.S. official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, told CNN.

If I recall correctly, EOM's last post prior to todays indicated a 72 hour period of silence, which I calculated to yesterday afternoon. And the post before that said that there would not be anymore posts unless there was a major change of plans or something like that. Approximately 72 hours passed between those two posts. Although EOM's post today also references 72 hours, he unequivically states that today is the day. We'll see.

" Or burn out the ALL the vipers in their own nest."

We won't do that until the profit margin shows a downward turn or the human loss is much greater than 9/11.
