I just got the news that my precious son's (age 4) blood tests are back. He has Alpha 1 and the numbers on his liver enzymes are shooting up again.
His alkalines have almost doubles, as have ALT and AST. In short, it's not real good. Our wonderful doctor wants to check again in 3 months, but thinks we'll be headed back to Vandy for more aggressive treatment.
Please pray for his health & healing if it is God's will. Also, please pray for us as we cope. I will most certainly give God the glory and ya'll my heartfelt thanks.
Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency (AAT Deficiency or Alpha-1) is one of the most common serious hereditary disorders in the world and can result in life-threatening liver disease in children and adults or in lung disease in adults.
I'm going to have a bit of a cry now. He begged to go to Granny's for a few hours and I just couldn't say no.

Well, folks, looks like we'll be headed to Boston in the next few weeks. The physician has classified Jacob as "unstable" and will work him in sooner than March.
Unstable. A new reason to HATE that word.
Keep the prayers going, please. We'll all shout together when Jacob is HEALED.
I will probably be back on in an hour or two. I'm finishing up at wor now, and getting kind of emotional.
Because Jacob's been running a fever, he couldn't go to pre-school (he goes 2x per week) and went to Granny's whereupon he was "convinced" by same to spend the night so they could take him shopping at the mall. Pray he won't get too terribly spoiled before he's healed. lol

Oh Kimmie...have a cry and get ready to be the "BAD MOM" after 24 hours of SPOILING!
We will be praying for you all of the time while you are away.
I know the LORD will bring more good interventions your way.
I pray that Jacob continues to be blessed with the best of everything in his journey.
KISS THAT BOY FOR ME~
WE LOVE YOU!!!
WE ARE PRAYING FOR YOU!!!

Update: We will be going to Children's Hospital in Boston on St. Patty's Day...Jacob's condition has been labeled "unstable", but that's the absolute earliest appointments could be coordinated with all the specialists involved.
Jake continues to run a low-grade fever. He's starting to look a little pale, and sleeps more. Your continued prayers for his healing are appreciated.
I'm getting the word out right now as well as trying to figure out the blasted travel route. I haven't flown in 7 years and am adrift in a sea of travelocity, orbitz, priceline etc. quotes. *grin* We're going to shoot for a long layover in DC to let little buddy (and mom!) see some sights there -- he's pretty bright and can identify President Bush and some other world leaders on sight. (He can also identify Hillary! and says "that's a bad person, Mama" -- out of the mouths of babes...) I figure we should make this trip as 'light-hearted' for him as possible when we're not actually at the hospital. Give the kiddo some good memories -- not just those of being poked and prodded. Any ideas or input in this vein would be appreciated. He's also THRILLED that he's going to ride in an airplane.
If you'd rather not be pinged, please let me know via FReepmail. You won't hurt my feelings...I know how busy we all are.
Most of all, thanks for your prayers. They've helped more than you will ever know. Don't forget to pray for Vet_Husband_and_Wife and stop by Logan's Miracle thread. There is so much suffering in this old world...come quickly, Lord Jesus!
If I never meet ya'll in "real life" -- I'll meet you in the sky. Many blessings on you and yours...

Praise the Lord for His blessings! I'm so glad the Lord is moving! I have four sons, my youngest just turned 5. I can't imagine how it would hurt to be in your shoes. I'll keep lifting your little sweety up in my prayers.
BTW, you mentioned wanting some input about things to see in DC. If at all possible, and if time permits, go to the Smithsonian. I visited Washington back in 1976 and I still remember all the neat things I saw in the Smithsonian. I think your little boy would enjoy seeing all the machines, and displays there - things like the Wright Brothers first plane, for instance.
God bless you and your family, kimmie!

Dear Lord,
Thank you for blessing Kimmie and her family with Jacob.
Jacob is in Your hands dear Lord.
Please guide the doctors as they check to see how they can
help Jacob.
We love You Lord and thank you for your grace, mercy, and
bountiful blessings.
In Jesus' name.
Amen.

Oh, Kimmie, you and the little man can have such a great time in D.C. Don't miss the Smithsonian museums, and make sure you go to the Air and Space Museusm.
Smithsonian map. It's pretty crowded because it's so good, but you'll never forget it!
Also, on the plane flight, remember to bring some snacks. You can buy food at the airport, or you can pack a few sandwiches, etc. And get ready for security, you'll need to have your driver's license or other ID ready, and for Heaven's sake, don't make jokes about "bombs". The FBI has no sense of humor. :)
I pray that Jacob receives the finest of care and that he comes through all this just great for the glory of God. Best regards
