I just got the news that my precious son's (age 4) blood tests are back. He has Alpha 1 and the numbers on his liver enzymes are shooting up again.
His alkalines have almost doubles, as have ALT and AST. In short, it's not real good. Our wonderful doctor wants to check again in 3 months, but thinks we'll be headed back to Vandy for more aggressive treatment.
Please pray for his health & healing if it is God's will. Also, please pray for us as we cope. I will most certainly give God the glory and ya'll my heartfelt thanks.
Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency (AAT Deficiency or Alpha-1) is one of the most common serious hereditary disorders in the world and can result in life-threatening liver disease in children and adults or in lung disease in adults.
I'm going to have a bit of a cry now. He begged to go to Granny's for a few hours and I just couldn't say no.

Dear Lord,
Kimmie's heart is breaking with grief for her young son's health.
If it be Your will, please touch the boy with Your healing touch.
Please give peace and assurance to Kimmie and her family.
We are asking a lot here dear Lord.
We humbly ask You to hear our prayers.
In Jesus' precious name.
Amen.

(((netmilsmom))) Thanks.
You are all going to be amazed at how God is working -- I'm at work but will update after church tonight. We're having Jacob annointed with oil and prayed for tonight by our pastor and dear chuch family.
There hasn't been a miracle, but God is calling forth a large number of people who are helping us in ways I couldn't have imagined.
Thanks to all for your prayers. I love ya'll much.

Loved ones -- for that's what you are. I wanted to quickly update you on events that are changing almost as rapidly as I type this.
It turns out that we know a lot more people than we thought...and they know people....people high up in both the insurance and medical professions. To make a very long and amazing story short, through a chain of events that could only have been brought about by God, we will be talking with the Cheif Geneticist at Children's Hospital in Boston in the very near future. PRAISE GOD FOR HIS FORESIGHT!!!
Dr. Bruner (Vanderbilt, mention in first 50 posts or so) was a wonderful doctor, but Alpha 1 and liver diseases are not his specialty, and we had been quite disappointed with the care/treatment at Vandy with regard to this matter. Of course the NICU and Children's Clinic are two totally separate entities -- and we weren't too happy with the clinic. Therefore, we'll be talking with the top folks at Boston -- all because a friend had a friend who knew Mr. So-and-so. Amazing. PRAISE GOD FOR FRIENDS!!!
Also, the phone consult is in preclude to an actual visit to Boston. The call itself could cost up to $500 -- and that's out of pocket. Since finding that out, I've had no fewer than 4 people tell me that it's paid for. That money is not an issue. PRAISE GOD FOR HIS GOODNESS
My step-father, who is a grumpy old coot and tighter than Dick's hatband, told my mom that plane tickets are on him. No matter how many we need or how many times we need them. PRAISE GOD FOR HIS GOODNESS
Another friend of a friend, whom I've never met, holds a high position in a major insurance company. She will be helping us fight with our insurance company to get as much paid as possible. Not only that but she wants to arrange for our lodging when we get to Boston. I don't know this lady from Adam -- but PRAISE THE LORD -- HE DOES!!!!
Both my manager and the owner of the paper at which I work said, "Go -- take care of your son. We'll be here for you. Take all the time you need. We'll be praying for him and you. Oh, and by the way, if you need money or anything else -- just call us. We want to help." PRAISE GOD FOR THIS NOT-SO-LIBERAL-MEDIA WORKPLACE!!!
Last night, at church, we were both annointed with oil...my son and me. The Spirit was truly there -- by the end of the evening, 7 people had come forward to be annointed, we prayed specifically for 3 more, there was spontaneous singing, and not a dry eye in the house. The Spirit moved so strongly last night that the preacher didn't get to give his lesson. (We're studying "The Purpose Driven Life") PRAISE GOD FOR HIS ABIDING PRESENCE!!
There is more, but I'm about to break into revival right here at work. I was physically and emotionally exhausted last night, and decided to update today. I hope ya'll don't mind the ping. PRAISE GOD FOR FREEDOM-LOVING, LORD-PRAISING, SUPPORTIVE, FREEPER FRIENDS!!!

Amazing. God not only blessed you and your son, but he managed to sneak his goodness and blessings into making my heart a little less heavey and my smile a whole lot wider. This is wonderful news and it has made my day....thanks for sharing that info with us. :-}

There's more!!! I just got another call from the friend high up in insurance....we'll probably be going to Boston in March, seeing an Alpha 1 expert, as well as a pulmonologist! GOD IS SOOOOOOOO AMAZING!!!
What's the cheapest way to get airline tickets? I'm hoping for an hour layover in DC -- I've never been there, and I'd at least like to see it from an airport, LOL!
God is so good, my friends.
