p.s...I have gone to same tiny little polling place every year I've voted.
They have the standard table with a [D] lady and a [R] lady with their respective registration books.
For years, the [D] lady smiled upon me as I gave my name.
But then, so did the [R] lady, without a single hint of reproach.
The year I switched, the [D] lady gave me such a look of revile and disgust that I had to check to see if I had a Spotted Owl feather caught in my teeth.
(and I know she recognized me as "one of hers" since my very long reddish-blonde hair makes me sort of unmistakable for anyone else in our tiny community)
The [R] lady gave me the same smile she always did, only just a little bit warmer and welcoming.
I smiled back and said I was glad to have my name found in the "book of life", now.
Her wide grin and the [D] lady's sneer told me I'd done the right thing...:)

LOL!!! Yep. I had a problem only one year. The (D) lady said loudly, "Oh, YOU"RE the Republican!" with a look like she had something much worse than a Spotted Owl Feather in her mouth.
The place got quiet when she said it, then resumed the "hum" after I stared her down. She wouldn't look at me for the rest of the time I was there.
