I just sent this very post to one of my friends (uma Paulista.) We've been going at each other over a lot of differences recently. I never realized how much she was willing to embrace socialism. When I pointed out the obvious failures, well, you know the temper they can have.
We got into over the "photo ID" issue. She said it's probably not to smart to pursue a policy when so many people are against it, and my retort was that "Yeah, but those people who are against it don't live in this country and hate America to begin with, why would we even consider their opinion?". She didn't like that.
She went on to say, "Well, now Americans can know what it feels like" and I was compelled to retort that if it was in the interest of National Security, then by all means we should all work together to comply. However, in this instance there was a Federalista Judge somewhere in some Bumf*ck estado in Brasil who decided we (Americans) were Nazis for implementing such policy. He implemented the procedure as a retalitory measure which was as petti and as small of an response as I could imagine coming from a government official.
I topped that statement off with the devastating "What can I say to something like that? 'INVEJA E MERDE'"...
We ended the conversation before blood could flow. ; )
Oh well, I have other Brasilian friends...
