I'd rather people be trained for work, rather than have their eyes trained on the government trough. If you find job training laughable, tear up that diploma you may not have hanging on your wall. That is, if you have one. I have a Master's degree, and I am employed. Doesn't change the fact that we're exporting low skilled and highly skilled jobs like crazy.
Retraining these people from manufacturing into what he suggested (so they can get up to snuff on computer skills) is not going to cut it, when these jobs are not going to be available in this country. He also suggested biomed, another field were much research can be exported as well.
Better he do something about our scientists and engineers being replaced by 3rd world worker bees, or we're going to be left with Walmart and used car salesman jobs.
Sorry, I like president Bush, but I rather he address this issue than waste time talking about steroid use and gay marriage.

Count on McCain to be a thorn in the President's side all the way to the election.
Wonder if he will be showing up on the Sunday shows again soon.

My guess is that neither Edwards or Kucinich would be able to define exactly what it is the Federal Reserve does. Clearly Sharpton had no clue and it was funny to watch him fumble and mumble. The others must have been praying they weren't going to get that same question.
They are all such self serving hacks, it was painful to watch them and realize that the President is forced to work with those people to keep America safe.

??? Is this post for me??? I think you were trying to respond to somebody else. What London/Times article? No, not to you specifically. I was just giving running commentary (with a touch of edioritalizing) and responded to the last poster on the thread. Sorry for any misunderstanding.

Anyone know what pin that is on Edwards lapel?I believe it's a miniature one of these:
To: alwaysconservative
Everything Edwards said was blah EXCEPT he believes in States Rights. IF NH really heard that Edwards will win. If he holds onto it going into South Carolina Edwards wins. IF he stands behind that He will become the Next president.
To: Fledermaus
If Sharpeton got elected President, there WOULDN'T be four more years. The entire nation would collapse. He's an ignorant, bloated buffoon, and a standing insult to every intelligent black American he alleges he represents. He makes Jessie Jackson look bright (and that's not easy.)

My feelings exactly. From what I saw Lieberman was by far the best of the bunch.
The debate became so boring my husband kept switching to other channels.
To: Dante3
Actually, I found it both amusing and frightening.

I think Dean is a certifiable nutcase. I think he is emotionally unstable and poorly grounded in international affairs. He spouts typcal leftist Democratic rhetoric on nearly every issue except gun control.

Edwards demonstrated he is a moron. The biggest threat to America and western civilization today is Islam. By his answers he amply demonstrated his total ignorance of this cult and its practises. And he wants to be President??
He could have at lleast done his homework.
Even when he spoke about the Second Amendment, he demonstrated his ignorance of that subject. Its not there to allow people to hunt. The purpose is claerly to allow people to gain familiarity with firearms so that if neededm they are capable of defending their rights from threats from without or tyranny from within. The latter is the reason Democrats, social tyrants all, fear it.

I wasn't replying to you specifically re: your comment. I was just posting a comment as part of the thread. That's all there is to that. I jumped on the debate thread when it was already half over and yours was the last thread at the time. Sorry for any confusion. FV

IF it is true then every state will have more power. There will be no Federalism. He could veto every piece bill that would infringe on the rights of states. Personally I find this worthy. Every state could decide their own fate.
Here are some things I would like to see. Abortion by state, gay marriage, gun laws, taxes, pay to federal congressmen from the state and president, roads. The list is huge folks. He says he is for the common man. If this is true this changes everything.
As it stands now Federalism makes a country with no state lines.

Has anybody considered temporarily switching thier voter registration to "Dem" just to vote for Dean in the primaries to ensure that he wins the nomination? In these close primaries, it would only take a few of us to swing the nomination his way.

That pin on Edward's lapel...I believe it is the pin that was awarded to his 16 yr old son who had just completed an outward bound program. From what I understand, his son had some type of difficulties and went to outward bound. He completed the program and his parents were very proud of him. 2 wks later he died in accident soon after he got his license, caught in high winds and the SUV he was driving overturned. Edwards now wears that pin in memory of his son.
