Police Arrest 41 Alleged LA Gang Members

Wednesday January 21, 2004 11:46 PM

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Authorities Wednesday arrested 41 people they say belong to a violent gang with a history of attacks on police, including two last month in which officers were shot at.

The early morning operation targeted leaders of the Bounty Hunter Bloods, which authorities said operates in South Los Angeles and is one of the most violent gangs in the city's history. Police and FBI agents stormed the Nickerson Gardens public housing complex, the gang's base of operations.

``This morning we arrested essentially the hierarchy of the gang,'' FBI spokesman Matt McLaughlin said.

Federal agents arrested 13 people for investigation of conspiracy to distribute cocaine and other charges. Los Angeles police took another 28 suspects into custody on drug-related charges.

FBI agents and police knocked down doors at Nickerson Gardens and exploded non-lethal concussion grenades as they rounded up suspects.

Police shut down nearby schools and cordoned off a wide area, leaving some neighbors temporarily stuck inside their homes.

Sounds like a classic case of profiling to me.

Paging Mr. Cochhran. Will Mr. Johnny Cochran please pick up the white phone?

I hope none of them are illegals, in which case the LAPD is in serious trouble!

String 'em up...

Oh that's right -- it's a new dawn.

The ACLU will assemble a fleet of 50 defense attorneys to sue Law Enforcement for "racially-charged hate crimes" and "brutality" on behalf of their "clients" -- murderers, thugs, and domestic terrorists.

Man was I off on the count! "In Los Angeles County, law enforcement officials are aware of more than 1300 street gangs with over 150,000 members. In the City of Los Angeles alone, there are approximately 407 gangs and over 56,000 members. Los Angeles Almanac, 2002• Gangs account for approximately 51% of all homicides in Los Angeles County. Of the 1156 homicides in 2001, 587 were gang-related. The majority of all gang homicides are committed with handguns."
