Temp was in the forties like all the other wells in the county. Now it's over eighty and climbing.

If the air temp is lower than that I would advise that you move east....quickly.

Our city water used to get that hot but well water should never get above 70. You're almost past "warm springs" temp

Get the Hell out! Water doesn't turn hot like that unless a little magma action is happening...or an earth-quake is going to hit!

I don't suppose you're just north-east of Quincy by any chance?

FWIW, I just did some googling, and came up with a presence of radon gas in well water being a possible predictor of seismic activity. I suppose you could consider checking out that angle if you should feel a need.

Is your hot water heater leaking? Just think of the money you will save if it get's to about 140. Here in Boise all the public buildings are heated by the geothermal hot springs under the city.

Uh, if I were you I would make sure my insurance is up to date. I don't know about volcanoes and earthquakes but I have stayed at a Holiday Inn.

If something BIG was going on then other would be seeing this too. Maybe your water pump is burning up? How is your electric bill? Is that on the rise too?

I do think I'd want to find out from wise geologists in the area--maybe the USGS--what the geographic extent of such warming was. Where are the relative faults and magma streams?

What's the map of such warming and the degrees at each measuring point? Are there any relative differences in rates of increase and raw temperatures?

And . . . Probably I'd be trying to buy land . . . say in South-eastern Colorado, Northern New Mexico . . . Some areas of Australia . . .

But, mostly I'd want to walk close to God and obey him. The times are a changin' and middle earth is passing away.

The transition will be uhhhh . . . as the Chinese say . . . interesting--particularly in spots.

. . . . hot spots.

Run. Seriously, if your pump is known to be functioning properly, you need to be ready to go.

I am SERIOUSLY interested in what your well is doing. Would yo email me a bit more info? You can find me at lowrie@infostations.com...

I'm guessing your near Quincy. My husband tells me there are numerous geothermal spots up there..........but.....
you did just have an EQ several days (weeks?) ago. I'm guessing, because I have no education on the subject, that the quake you had played havoc with your well.

When the temp goes from 40s to 80s, there SHOULD be some concern by the county, is there?

I think this needs some public discussion, not just here on this site. A bit too many goofy responses. I am new to this site, but why bother to post a reply is your only offering a wise crack?

lynnirene
PS, I don't a lot of time to scan here for your response, I would appreciate and email.
