Yes, this is a strange list for kids' films.
That said, I would add 'Rudy' w/Sean Astin. What a great film, and I don't even care for football. He struggles, he struggles, he struggles some more, and then he triumphs! It is a great American film, a great lesson in trying hard to reach your goals, etc. I think every 8th grader should be shown this film so they can get that victim mindset out of their heads before they go off to high school.
For those who like football, that's another plus to the movie. However, Rudy played at Notre Dame and I'm a Wolverine, so I couldn't get as excited about watching ND as some people might. : )

Remember the Titans is great for kids, especially boys. No curse words, I kept waiting for them to say the "N" word (considering the subject metter), but this is one movie that handled a sensitive subject very well. My boy loves it.
