I have a “friend,” lets call him Mike.

Mike has labored along side both illegal -- and legal -- Mexicans. He has found them -- for the most part -- hard working, honest, big hearted, good natured; family oriented, teem workers, with a sense of humor: who don’t take themselves to seriously! Mike especially enjoys it when they ask him to help them learn English. Mike likes to explain to them that many Spanish and English words have common Latin roots.

If you want to discuss how much you hate his proposal or would like to offer your thoughtful plan on how to attack the problem ,be ready to propose it.

Send letters to your representatives,your President,and to the letters to the editor.You don't have to defend the President's plan to support the President.

Just make a lot of noise about the plan to the right people.Study other plans,promote the one you think is best.Lately no one in Congress is really doing anything to solve it.They don't want to think about the hard choices.

I don't like it.I like that we are discussing it.I am going to google the Jordon Immigration report because it recognized the need for "teeth" along with green card approval.Of course Bush is proposing something else ,not green cards,it isn't like the amnesty that has been given before but there is no real enforcement provision.It needs an ability to control.We need a data base,tracking,responsible employers,verifiable papers...alot.Right now you can't check someone's papers on the the street,the ACLU will get you.

I have been posting about this for days.I haven't had to post in all capitals or propose extreme scenarios to gain some information and carry on a conversation.You did post this in the middle of the night and it's not exactly something new.

I read the same thing the day Bush gave his speech.Fox said on TV he wants all borders fom Mexico to Canada open.That way Mexico will never have to reform.

First of all, I suppose everyone can agree that some controls have to be put on immigration. The debate is somewhere between cutting off all immigration and completely open borders.

Bush has proposed a plan. The Congress disposes, hopefully after informed debate and input from the citizens.

I have yet to find anyone advocating immediate and total expusion of illegal immigrants who has any workable plan to implement it.

Here's one workable plan, Wildbill, published in last evening's edition of www.Vdare.com :

There are about a dozen others out there, all eminently workable and in fact damned easy to implement. The beauty of the best ones is that they get the illegals to "expel" themselves, making 'em just decide to leave and go back home on their own, without being rounded up and kicked out. They'll just melt away. One such was proposed in detail not long about (maybe ten days ago or so) on this site by a Freeper named Sabertooth. It listed "Eighteen Steps Better Than Amnesty for Dealing with Illegals."

There are tons of plans out there for doing it, Wildbill. But you miss the essential point: Pres. Bush is a Tranzi. He doesn't WANT there to be a solution. He WANTS the melding of Mexico, his dearly beloved country, and the U.S., and the wishes of the majority of the American people be damned.
