***The Courage Of George W. Bush***
Stardate: 0401.17

As I listen to the jabberings of the misc. democrats who are attacking the President, those who were in the services, et al, I always remember one sight I will never forget the rest of my life......
A few days after 9-11 when no one knew what was happening and who was behind it, and no one was really sure if it was over, I watched George Bush, all alone, walk out to the mound at Yankee Stadium, in front of 55 thousand people and as clean a target as ever existed, show the world that America, (at least this American) wasn't going to be intimidated.....and there, all alone, no SS, no NYPD, nothing, he threw out that first ball.......
You could hear America stop breathing until he was off the field.......
That took more guts than anything any of these pathetic weasels ever did in their lives.......
I will never forget that.....ever......

ROFLOL Good shots of "W" and a great laugh at 26.
Dose Memory Field Trip???
To: Spruce
If I recall correct, W put it right over the plate. Which is amazing given the bullet proof vest he had on under his coat. Just getting the ball to the plate doing that is an accomplishment.
To: The Wizard
An Amazing and very real moment, I remember it well....

He meant in January 2001 it when he said:
We are not this story's author, who fills time and eternity with his purpose. Yet His purpose is achieved in our duty and our duty is fulfilled in service to one another.
Never tiring, never yielding, never finishing, we renew the purpose today, to make our country more just and generous, to affirm the dignity of our lives and every life.
This work continues, This story goes on. And an angel still rides in the whirlwind and directs this storm.
Every act he does, from throwing the first pitch out, flying, visiting troops, children, hospitals, he does his very best. He truly believes it is his duty to serve our county with dignity, hard work, excellence and kindness. He is the epitome of a GENTLEman.....God HAS blessed America!

You're right, it would be a great ad! I remember watching it through my fingers and holding my breath. I was scared to death for him.

I don't know about copyright. I snagged it from somewhere, and put it on my home page. You're welcome to it. As someone said a few posts back, it should be used in the campaign.
To: The Wizard
Thank you!
I, too, watched and still think about that act of courage.
It was an "in your face", "double dare" you kind of rebuttal to the terrorists, a way to say "we're still here, you didn't scare us". (the flight into Baghdad had to have the same demoralizing effect to the enemy.)
It's nice to see a positive thread about the President on FR.

"right over the plate"
Yes .. he did. And .. in all his years associated with baseball .. it must have given him a thrill to have been able to pitch in a World Series. It could have been a life-long dream fulfilled.
I have a couple of pictures of that pitch .. it was great .. and I was praying for him all the time he was on the field; along with millions of other people.

Thank you Wizard. I read Bill Sammon's book, Fighting Back, that chronicles 9-11 and the weeks after. I highly recommend it.
