Oh, gosh...I can almost see the picture you paint with words...the Sierras do have that 'purple mountain's majesty'...and covered in snow, they shine bright as a full moon.
Okay...can I join you for a ride????

Dutchess hasn't presented John's thread in a while, she's been doing the Pet Threads so it was an easy mistake to make. I'll be doing Johns next week. :)

You we're busy around here this week, just wanted to make sure that you got full credit for your hard work.
Iceskating on a pool sounds like so much fun! We have to ice skate at indoor rinks down here.

Let's go...I'm ready...maybe we can stop by Mama_Bear's den for some porridge...)

Well, I had a lovely Friday night dinner with 5 other Republicans. What are the chances, in this town?
I'm doing LOTS of quilting. Showed a friend how to make a babyquilt for her grandchild this afternoon -- she machine quilted a small pink quilt in just 4 hours, from start to end. (It's only a yard square, but still, that's FAST!)
Speed quilting. I should teach such a course!

FreeTheStitches, is it really true you saved a doggie bag with leftovers from that feast with the five Republicans just for our Thin Man?!!
How thoughtful you are, and even helped that dear Mum cover her wee babe..:))
(Things are looking up, Thin Man!!
She really is softening!)

Breakfast looked good. I'm just a little late in getting here. Long evening tonight. Assisted other Knights and Sacred Heart ladies with providing a Ziti dinner to the parish tonight after mass. Good folks, good food and great turnout. We were even blssed with alot of helping hands remaining to aid in the clean-up.
Anyway I hope everyone enjoys their weekend. Good night. SYS.

My wife and I went to the Sixth Floor last Wednesday. We couldn't take pictures inside the museum, but I got a picture of my wife outside the entrance. For those reading this that might not know, The Sixth Floor is the old Dallas School Book Depository building from which Lee Harvey Oswald fired the fatal shots at President Kennedy on November 22, 1963. They made it into a museum and have done a really good job too. Very interesting and I recommend a visit there to anyone coming to Dallas.

Reality Or Illusion?
Read: Malachi 2:13-17
You say, "Everyone who does evil is good in the sight of the Lord." Malachi 2:17
Bible In One Year: Genesis 43-45; Matthew 12:24-50
I had just started to back the van away from the loading area. In my rearview mirror I saw two semi trucks side by side. I had plenty of clearance. Just then it appeared that one of the trucks was moving into my path. I stopped. But then I realized that the other truck was actually backing up, creating the illusion that the standing semi was moving forward.
An illusion, according to the dictionary, is an "erroneous perception of reality." Sleight-of-hand artists use it to "do the impossible." Most illusions are harmless, but some can be fatal. In a desert, chasing a mirage that looks like water can lead to death.
But the most dangerous illusions are the spiritual and moral ones that people are so prone to believe. In Malachi 2, the Israelites were breaking their marriage vows (vv.14-16). They knew that God hates divorce (v.16), yet they were saying, "Everyone who does evil is good in the sight of the Lord" (v.17).
Doesn't that sound like today's culture? People believe that things like abortion, extramarital sex, and divorce for other than biblical reasons are morally right. Even some Christians believe in such illusions.
It's crucial that we allow the Bible to be the standard by which we distinguish reality from illusion! Dennis De Haan
The Word of God declares what's right
And what is pleasing in His sight;
It also shows that deep within
What we call good may be a sin. Hess
One of life's greatest illusions is that sin has no consequences.
