My pet rat died 3 days ago. He was 3 years old. A sweet and gentle soul who wouldn't leave his cage even if the door was left open.
Ferrets, on the other hand, I hate them. My roommate, years ago had them and they would hide around the apartment and sneak out and bite my toes.

Now THAT'S cute! I've had similar siamese-shaded ferrets in the past, and presently have an albino (a fairly common color in ferrets).

Thank you. We have had ferrets. If taken care of properly and trained, they are as loving, gentle, loyal and clean a pet you could ever wish for. I have always been a cat lover. My little girl ferrets were like having kittens for years! Hard to describe how terrific a pet they can be. Most people seem compare them to rats, which may not be a bad thing, if you like rats! The lower case ones, not Rats!

We have four ferrets here at home right now, two that belong here and two rescued ferrets that our animal rescue organization will eventually adopt out to good homes. I'm an animal lover, but I have to say these are certainly not my favorite animals. If I walk in the room while they're out of the cage playing, a couple of 'em immediately make a beeline for my feet, trying to get at my toes to bite them. I also don't like the musky smell.
People in general are very misinformed on these animals, too. They tend to think of them as warm, soft, and cuddly. They're not. Their hair is rather coarse, actually, and doesn't feel at all like you might think from looking at them. And they're not cuddly. If they're awake, they're usually wide open, looking for trouble. Weird animals.

Albinos are neat but I have always preferred sables.

LOL. They do like going for toes. Our ferrets hair is very soft...softer than the cats. Fred likes to play but he loves to curl up on ya and sleep more. Great pet.

"Their teeth are sharp, they're sharp like razors," Stiller told reporters during a recent promotional junket.Their teeth are very sharp. One bit my ex husband on his hand and he had to go for stitches. LOL

In addition, ferrets also make make excellent Computer Programmers or Dental Hygienists. However, as someone pointed out earlier, this requires a lot of time, training, and patience. Otherwise, they just pee on the carpet.

My ex husband's cousin had ferrets about 25 yrs ago. Of course they were probably illegal back then, but I thought the little things were cool.
We kept some possums over the summer, until a neighbor told us they carried rabies. We let them go, but they were the cutest things:-)

Where in this article does Stiller apologize? I don't really care one way or the other, but the headline promises an apology- and I don't see it.

How in the world did that little weasel (Stiller, not the ferret) get Christine Taylor to marry him?

I should say their hair doesn't match the visual perception of what it will feel like; at least it doesn't for me. When I first saw them, they looked like they'd feel like mink. Hardly!
One of ours also has the immunity disease; can't remember the name, but it's very common, I understand.
