Yes, the press is on her side. They can't wait for her to run. It is up to us.

As an independent, African American voter, I take serious offense to your comments.

This statement is what one might expect from a professional victim trolling for some hand-wringing white suckerfish. You caught a whopper in sinkspur.

Take the chip off your shoulder and engage in some vigorous debate as a fully realized and dignified adult. If you do, I and many others here, will gladly welcome you and cheer you on. But if you're going to play the victim card, expect to be ignored.

I agree with you..For people to make stupid comments such as he should have pinched a loaf or i will put lawn jockys on my yard is just dumn...I think MLK was commendable for what he stood for at the time..And who knows how he would feel in todays climate.. Although i would tend to think he would have gone the same path as the left wing now..But he was a great man and for people to belittle and down right insult him is childish and down right disrespectful.

"When blacks like myself come on sites like this and read comments such as yours, this paints the entire Republican party in a negative light."

The ENTIRE Republican Party? Dismissed by one ambiguous comment at Free Republic??

Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

The posters who made made comments about soiling Martin Luther King's grave are beneath contempt. But then so are the demonstrators who booed and hissed the president. They soiled the event and the memory of Dr. King every bit as much in their own foul, vicious way.

I tend to agree with you there to... For people to taint Martin Luther Kings grave site with protesting and booing is contemptable..It is just the left wings MO and it is getting so old. Bush has class something that these liberanazis will never have....

He did?! How?

Exactly!

The fact that they were protesting this event is the equivilent of pi$$ing on MLK's grave. This is not what he supposedly stood for. Those people are just ignorant.

Yeah really. Money doesn't create jobs, innovation and investment (slight difference from money) create jobs.

That's why, though I am not rich, I love tax cuts for the rich.

Why in God's name does the President keep trying to throw a sop to people who will NEVER, EVER support him?

Because even if the race baiters tarnish what MLK said, it's still right.

>I remember that other Reuters story about Senator Clinton being booed at the 9/11 benefit. Wait, no I don't.

Reuters should be forbidden from practicing journalism. I just find it interesting and disturbing how the media can construct reality.

I'm extremely disappointed in you behind that one, Kevin Curry. I thought better of you. Looks like I was wrong.

I think I'll celebrate King day by putting a couple of lawn jockeys in my front yard.

Lawn jockeys? Okay.

Bush is probably one of the few present who actually tries to practice what MLK Jr preached. All the blacks who booed him, as well as the NAACP, Jesse Jackson, et al, are nothing but people who make a living keeping the races at each other throats. They are a disgrace to the legacy of MLK JR.

I feel badly about many of the comments on this thread and I'm sorry you had to see the worst side of some here. We are not all like that. For some, it is anger that President Bush gets no credit from the Black community no matter what he does..for others, it is mere stupidity and ignorance. Welcome to you. Don't leave, please.

So you're saying that Bush did this as a publicity stunt? An attempt to win black voters, and not to honor MLK?

I think that's pretty obvious. Same as any other politician.

I've been lurking for years and only started posting this past summer. I've read your posts over the years and like how you think, so I'd like to apologize for the racist a-holes on this thread. With some of the statements on this thread, it's easy to see why blacks could see RWer's as racist and never vote R.

I appreciate your sentiment, but please don't apologize for these people.

You have nothing to apologize for. They've stated what's in their hearts and I'm thankful for it.

It removes any illusions.
