FP: I think you are right about the state of the Democratic Party. They don't have a prayer in hell to beat Bush in 2004, right?

AC: If they have a prayer, it will be answered by someone whose kingdom is not heaven.

'nuff said...

I thought: "My God, they've arrested Nick Nolte again!"

Ann, you're killing me!

But among the books I am especially fond of are:

...

The Bell Curve, by Charles Murray and Richard Hernstein...

A gutsy nugget in a gutsy interview. The Bell Curve, like Joe McCarthy, has taken reams of hysterical abuse for 10 years now, all of it "fact free."

I didn't think my esteem for Ann could be any greater. Until now.

Jamie Glazov is Frontpage Magazine's managing editor. He holds a Ph.D. in History with a specialty in Soviet Studies.

You'd think the author would've found time to review the history of the period that McCarthy lived in.

One should not need to ask if something is, or is not, satirical. That article, calling for invasions and conversions, was the caliber of what I would expect from a fellow reveler in a tavern. That it was hailed in some of the lower circles of conservatism is, to put it politely, disconcerting.

"Lower circles"? Wow, how's the view up there in the lofty heights, Dante? Do you have medical reasons for high elevation, such as accommodating your swelled head?

Can't say I agree with everything you say here, but I do agree that she's primarily feeding at the pundit trough. To me the really painful thing in this interview is the way she attempts to throw a zinger into every single answer, even the ones that would be better answered without a zinger.

Many conservatives lap it up but I seriously doubt she's winning any converts with her approach. And winning converts would seem to be the most important mission.

Converts to what? Christianity? Conservatism (whatever that is these days....)? Republican Party registration?

I don't remember reading anywhere that Ann had signed up as a missionary. Her style is deliberately acerbic, and as you noted, a lot of us relish it. I for one don't want her to "tone down" her "rhetoric" or lay off the "zingers" in order to proselytize. Especially not when a wimpy, trendy pseudo-conservative like Jamie Glazov interviews her.

of course liberalism is a mental defect.

Bump for the indomitable Ms. Coulter. She long ago fixed her bayonet and charged the enemy camp. Meanwhile, everyone else huddles in a foxhole working out a plan for "winning hearts and minds".

When something seems to good to be true... She's a charlatan folks, cashing in on P.T. Barnum's vile estimate. Am I the only one who senses this? If a shrewd and cynical person set out to "create" a persona to hoodwink and bilk conservatives, they would come up with an outrageous caricature not unlike Ann Coulter.

You sir need to buy a clue! If you cannot recognize political and satirecle genius, that is your problem. She skewered at least 15 liberal sacred cows in a matter of 5 minutes and exposed the interviewers lack of reading her book before the interview, to boot.

At 98 pounds she may well be the strongest Conservative mind we have. She makes fun of liberals the way liberals laugh at Conservatives. Her defense of McCarthy is beyond gutsy and true. The Rats cannot have America hating Communism and Socialism or they're dead!

Pray for W and The Truth

When something seems to good to be true...

Why is saying the Holy Bible is her only favorite book too good to be true?

I wouldn't have put it that way, but I would put the Holy Bible in a very different category than any other book ever written. It is a "must read." The rest are all "nice to have."

Shalom.

The liberal mind always comes up short cause they need to complicate things, takes the heat off themselves.

Human beings complicate things for two reasons.

1. They are complicated. Sometimes this is true, like finding the ideal shape of an airplane wing.

2. They don't like the answer that simplicity provides. This is very common. The simplist answer for how such a delicately balanced, fully functional, marvellously beautiful, incredibly diverse universe came into being is that a master created it. But many don't like that answer, so they complicate it.

Shalom.

This reporter was a whimp. Started off bashing McCarthy and then backed off in a hurry. Obviously the reporter was out of their league.

I agree. Isn't it sort of a prerequisite for a reporter to read ( or at least skim ) HIS SUBJECT'S LAST BOOK !

She is such a treat to read - sharp as a whip....

Right on.

There comes a time when one must identify an enemy and take steps to destroy them.

Ann's comment, regarding killing or converting those in the Middle East who dance in the streets when Americans are murdered in New York City, is a message to all such people that they are our enemies. If they continue to behave in that way, they will be destroyed.

Liberals are my enemies. They continue to take steps to disarm the people. I do not seek to convert them. Ted Kennedy is never going to stop believing that he must take my money to do good in the world. He will die believing that.

I have withdrawn my consent to be governed and I have withdrawn my participation in assisting liberals with any endeavor whatsoever. Liberals and their complicit RINOs in Kalifornia will be asking me to permit them to borrow $15 billion in order to continue their destructive nonsense. I encourage all Kalifornians to deny them that permission.

Bankruptcy alone is too light a punishment for the socialist tyranny which exists in Kalifornia now and which, if not destroyed, will arrive in every other state real soon.

I have my book list now. I've read three of the ones Ann lists:

"Witness by Whittaker Chambers,

Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis,

Modern Times by Paul Johnson,

The Bell Curve by Charles Murray and Richard Hernstein,

Radical Son by David Horowitz,

Hustler by Joe Sobran,

Takings by Richard Epstein,

Economic Analysis of the Law by Richard Posner,

Brain Storm by Richard Dooling,

Anna Karenina, Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights, anything by Dave Barry, and almost any true crime story about a serial killer. "
Jane Eyre was a great gothic romance. Wuthering Heights was filled with incompetant characters with whom I could not empathize. Mere Christianity was mere common sense that is scripturally irrefutable and it was entertaining to read--therefore it was a very rare Christian popular book.

I'll put the rest on my "to read" list.

Eat something Ann! And she has "man hands"!

But I love her wit, her mind and her toughness.
