This is a really random question, but I gather that we can talk about almost anything on this thread since we post to keep the thread bumped, so I'm going to go ahead and ask it....
After I click on the link to post a reply, and I go to the screen where I type in the text of my reply, I always see the words "Loose lips sink ships" in red. And being the curious gal I am, I keep wondering why. Would anybody who knows be kind enough to give me the answer? Thanks.

"Loose lips sink ships" It's an old military (navy?) warning about being careful what you say about military operations.
if I remember correctly it was originally placed there by Jim shortly after the beginning of military operations after 9/11/01 as a reminder this is a public forum and to not post specifics about where people were stationed or any troop movements they were privy to.
I'm sure others better in the know will give a better anser, but that's how I remember the beginnings of it.

During the WWII and maybe before it was a reminder to the troops and their families not to disclose any information, locations etc, in letters or other communications that might be useful to the enemy if their communication was somehow intercepted.
"Loose lips sink ships" was a line used at the theater,in the new reels that preceded the feature movie" SO I've been told, I'm not THAT old!

It's a war-time saying, reminding you to be careful with what you're saying...you don't want to post information that could cause our country or troops harm.
If someone has that pic of the puppy on the chair...it would be great right here.
