The election was won by a margin of 535 votes in South Florida...make of that what you will.
By the way, Janet Reno lost her bid for governor because of the same kid.
As for your denial, Clinton lied when he used those words...Freudian slip?

That was upped to over 700 after the overseas votes were "reallowed" (whatever that's supposed to mean). Hanging chads, Gore's delaying tactics nor deep analysis over voter intententions set bad precedent for the electoral process.
Bouncing the issue to the courts was foolishness, considering the instability brought about by running appointees through "litmus tests" that only insured that bench-holders would be adept at deviousness. The Judicial Branch of our government has been rendered schizophrenic by the other two branch's parties vying to gain power over each other. That good men like Bork and the Hispanic fellow are shut out while hippie-style radicals like Ruth Ginsberg are allowed is beyond my understanding. An election should never be entrusted to the courts because of their abuse by the opposing parties. That signalled that anyone willing and able to massage the system hard enough could scheme their way into the highest office, established parties or the next Adolf.
I knew your Cuban pride couldn't take the needling. I appologise for seeing the weakness and taking advantage.
