Very true, in fact if a holy warrior chimp kills enough babies, when they die, they go to chimp heaven where they get to enjoy 70 chimp virgins and all the bananas they can eat.

I have heard that hamas is thinking of importing some of the more dedicated holy warrior chimps into the west bank to snatch and eat Jewish babies.

It seems obvious that eating human babies is learned behavior, and that it would be a good idea to kill the chimp bands that are doing it. Wild animals can be taught that it's dangerous to prey upon humans.

I suspect that part of the problem is that Uganda and Tanzania are both regions where there has been a great deal of human and political turmoil. This probably wouldn't have gotten started or would not have gone so far if there were any kind of order in these areas.

Primate experts blame deforestation and human encroachment on the chimpanzees' habitat for the aggressive behaviour, but are divided on whether the animals are defending their territory or seeking a replacement food source.

I blame lack of adequate day care facilities in the bush. The poor mothers are simply out there working hard to support their litters of children. We need a government program to provide well trained day care faclities so that these women can go rooting for vegetables and not be concerned with Chimps running off with their kids.

Where are the Ugandan Democrats when you need them? Where is Jesse Jackson or Carole Mosely Braun on this issue?

People in various countries around the world kill and eat chimpanzees and other primates. They call it "bush meat," a term which encompasses a wide variety of African wild animal meat.

Maybe the chimps just figure that turnabout is fair play.

Imagine if they just start eating without killing first. I can imagine a chimpanzee just starting to eat --- not worrying if the baby was still alive. How horrible.
