>>A French admiral is currently in command of the force, which boards several ships a week, said Lt. Cmdr. Dean Matusek, a Navy liaison officer at Camp Lemonier.<<
Excellent article, except I found the above excerpt a little annoying. I personally hate to see France in charge of ANYTHING.
Kudos to your son-in-law. Sounds like this area is on the cutting edge of the war against terrorism.

"A French admiral is currently in command of the force, which boards several ships a week"
The french are only stoping those ships to surrender.

"Where is Djibouti?"
IIRC, Djibouti is a sadly destitute country.
But, I think they've been pretty open to the USA/West coming in to hold
the Islamic insanity in the region in check.
I hope our involvement there has plenty of economic "spin-off" to help out the citizens
of that place.
